I love love love this place. Jenny is amazing, wish I could go every day, but my legs would have an issue with that. I feel so energized and positive for the rest of the day after these workouts. Yeah, they are pricey, but that just pushes you to get everything you can out of the time you have.

CYC is one of my favorite workouts! I never dread working out when I've booked a bike. I always look forward to it because it really is a party on a bike! CYC is my social hour, my "me time," and one of the best high energy/empowering workouts I've ever done! I'm a working adult, not a college student, and I have never felt out of place in the studio. I've been doing CYC for about 3 years now and I can't stay away! I recently attended rides at 2 of the New York City CYC studios and the positivity/energy were no different than Madison! If you're curious, check it out for sure! :D

I absolutely love this place! The atmosphere has such a high energy vibe. All of the instructors have their own unique positive qualities to keep you motivated during the ride. I usually use Sidi carbon shoes, but they have Giro shoes that clip in to their bikes perfectly and are just as comfortable as your own shoes for the 45 minute rides. Try it out, you will be hooked!

Coming from FLYGHT to compare, and I'm happier with FLYGHT. I did get the amazing workout I sought, but if I were going to get a membership, I'd go with FLYGHT.
Here's why:
1) CYC's seating arrangement is TOO CLOSE! You're literally bumping elbows with the person on either side of you. Kinda gross.
2) Not a fan of reusing special CYC shoes and clipping into/out of your harness is really tricky. At least with FLYGHT you have the option of wearing your own shoes.
3) Instructor was really crazy. Like beyond just "into it" and pounded on a drum (??) and *dropped major F-bombs throughout the workout.* Screamed so loud into the mic I could barely understand what she was saying. OH! And calls out the new folks, checking in with you during the workout in front of everybody... just not my style. Leave me alone.
4) I prefer the screens/gauges on FLYGHT's bikes so you can see your RPM and calories burned. The programs were easier to follow. CYC just seemed... out of sync and more about the "party" element rather than the "workout."
5) Couldn't figure out the self-locking lockers (locker area is co-ed, by the way).
6) Gotta pay for parking below.
The overall vibe was just to "college-kids" for me. Yes, that's obvious given its location. I just felt a little out of place, but now I know. The atmosphere just seemed superficial and that they were trying too hard to be cool/hip/whatever. GREAT workout for college kids, but if you're a working adult in Madison, stick to FLYGHT.

I came to the class on the recommendation of a friend. I walked into a modern-looking studio, with extremely loud music pounding beats in my ear, tons of 20-somethings laughing and energized, and a sense of empowerment I didn't recognize at the time rippling through everyone.
At first it was a bit overwhelming but the staff immediately recognized me as new and quickly jumped over to say hello and get me set up. Their lockers were personally key-coded so I didn't have to worry about anyone breaking into my locker. The bathrooms were really clean with showers, towels, lotion, shampoo and conditioner, etc. Tons of amenities!
About 5 minutes to the half hour, two doors opened and I was ushered into the studio, where the music was twice as loud and the lights reminded me of a rave. A Cycologist helped me set up my bike and weights and I was ready to go! A Cycologist leads the workout and you following along with their instructions. The lights change colors, sometimes you're riding in almost complete darkness, and the music keeps in time with the workout. The Cycologists also share motivation and messages that are to help empower you through the workout.
The rides are tough if you're not used to working out on a daily basis, but super easy to pick up and advance with. I burned over 600+ calories in a 45-minute ride. I was drenched in sweat but feeling so empowered from what I had just accomplished. At one point the ride went completely dark and you pedaled as fast as you could "home." I won't lie... I cried. I didn't realize how much pent up emotions I had inside of me and they all came flooding out. It was so liberating! After the cool-down, they offered a deal to all the first-time Cyc students, 3 classes for $40. You can bet I took them up on the offer!
There are only a few downsides to to Cyc Fitness.
1) It's very cramped in the Cyc studio. The bikes inside are really close together, so close you can whack the other person next to you or sweat on each other. A little too close for comfort for those of us who like our space.
2) It's very, very, very loud. If you are someone who loves to dance and rave with black lights, then this is definitely your place. If you prefer a calmer, slightly less frenzied pace, I would recommend looking elsewhere.
3) It's ridiculously expensive. A single ride is $21 a pop. While there is a discount for students, those who are not and just want a fabulous workout have to shell out big bucks, even with ride deals. My hope is someday they will move to a gym membership fee per month versus per ride. It gets a little too pricey which is what holds me back from going more frequently.
Overall, this place is fabulous and the group energy is indescribable! If you're remotely curious, definitely give it a go! You won't be sorry. :)

Walked into the workout room and wasn't sure if I was going to be spinning or playing laser tag. I honestly believe you will do your body more harm than good by attending workout sessions here.
Pros:
Cons: Ear bleeding Loud. No instruction. Nauseating lighting. Poor workout design.
