I joined FIT the first week of June 2022 to address back pain issues. I am happy to say that the workouts Jared and his team provide have successfully addressed that issue, as well as some knee and shoulder pain from osteo arthritis. In addition to the pain reduction I have grown noticeably stronger and healthier. They quickly adjust the programs if something isn't working. The coaches are excellent at keeping you growing without hurting yourself. They are also very personable. It is an atypical gym and that is a good thing!

Update:
3 years plus at FIT. Sam has done a great job adjusting my program as needed to address injuries from ebike falls. Each time I recover and also continue to get stronger. He and Matt and Max are excellent at correcting form and encouraging. As a 65 year old I am in great shape and relatively pain free. I am not restricted from doing any activities I want to or even those I don’t really want to like yard work. I recommend FIT to anyone, but especially those in their 50’s and 60’s or beyond so you age well.

I recently celebrated two milestones. My 65th birthday and my 4-year anniversary as a proud member of FIT. Looking back, I feel incredibly fortunate to have discovered FIT at an age when one’s strength and fitness levels could easily start to decline. Instead, I found a place that defied that expectation—and helped me do the same.
With the expert support of Sam and the entire FIT team, Tatum, Matt, and Max. I have achieved a level of strength, endurance, and overall fitness that I never thought possible.
FIT is a place where age is not a barrier, but for me a badge of honor. The personalized attention, thoughtful programming, and unwavering encouragement have made all the difference. Sam and company didn’t just help me improve my health—they helped me rewrite the narrative of what aging can look like.
I’m stronger now than I’ve ever been, and I owe that to the incredible people at FIT. Thank you for helping me celebrate not just another year, but a new chapter of vitality and confidence.
With gratitude,

I started FIT in August of 2023, motivated to start lifting for school sports. Ever since I started, the FIT coaches have been incredibly helpful and supportive, given that I essentially started with bare minimum lifting experience and was rather injury-prone. Sam, Matt, and Tatum have been my primary coaches, and there is not a single denigrating thing I could say about any of them. They keep me focused on my workout while still finding time to establish a connection with everyone in the gym. Since I started lifting at FIT, I have noticed an exponential increase in my sports ability as well as my general confidence every day. I also have gained significant knowledge about lifting so that, if I wanted to, I could begin working out on my own and feel comfortable enough to do so safely and effectively. FIT is very reasonably priced for what they provide; I have, and will continue to, recommend FIT to anyone I can.

Tl;DR: 10/10. Highly recommend, especially if you are intimidated by the gym or are looking for a more guided experience. They don't try to lock you into a membership either.

Fantastic experience. Would recommend without any reservation for anyone, especially if you aren't the gym type or are worried about getting locked into a gym membership you can't get out of. The folks at FIT really took the time to understand my fitness goals and created a plan for me. There was no judgement and there was plenty of guidance whenever needed (they happily showed me to how do an exercise for the umpteenth time when I couldn't seem to remember one). FIT was the first gym experience I actually enjoyed. I unfortunately had to step away from my membership for a bit due to work demands and a new baby at home. They were very understanding and made this pretty painless as well. When life settles down a bit, I will definitely be interested in coming back.

After hearing friends rave about FIT for a couple of years, I finally signed up primarily so I could have support on good form and build strength. The hype was real! The coaches meet you were you are at, support your personal coaches, give helpful feedback back and are all genuinely great people. I’ve gotten stronger and more confident- I truly feel like my best self after a group class.

I joined the FIT family over 4 months ago and I am thankful I did! Thank you Max for making my workouts challenging yet enjoyable! FIT staff welcomes everyone while pushing all to have fun and stay fit! (Max, Sam, Taytum and Matt are the best!) They are very professional, knowledgeable and always have modifications when needed.

I've noticed a significant increase in my strength and stamina since I started! Before FIT I exercised but had never lifted weights and now I am able to perform a variety of lifts I never knew existed. Thank you and I look forward to continuing my fitness journey with FIT.

I have been working with Jared for the past 6 months in his FIT 4 Life Coaching Program. What I truly appreciate about his coaching is his realistic and balanced approach to integrating recovery, movement, and nutrition into daily life. Initially, my focus was on quick weight loss, and I had set an unrealistic goal. Jared provided guidance in changing my timeline, which has allowed me to make meaningful, sustainable changes without feeling deprived or sacrificing the foods I enjoy. While my progress has been gradual, it feels maintainable in the long term, which is far more valuable than short-term results. Jared shares his knowledge in a way that is easy to understand and apply in practice.
During our first one-on-one session, we identified my infinite goal, and I truly believe we got it right. I may not have reached that on my own, but through Jared’s thoughtful questioning and deeper exploration, I was able to define what truly matters to me. Beyond improving my running performance, I want to build strength as I age, ensuring that I can continue to engage in fun and active adventures for years to come. The name of his program, FIT 4 Life, is absolutely what his coaching is all about!

I decided to try out the Isophit 10-session package, and I was (mostly) glad I did! While it was challenging/sometimes frustrating, it was quite helpful to my movement! Spending time working through "static movements" and using very specific muscle groups was enlightening. (You think these things should feel easy, but I'm holding the motion for 45 seconds each you quickly find its harder than you want it to be)! On the days where I'd done Isophit mid-day and also went to dance classes at night, I could truly feel what muscle was (or wasn't) working in my dancing. This was helpful information and gave me more motivation to work on my problem spots in the gym because I myself could actually FEEL them as opposed to just having someone verbally cue that I should be "engaging my quads", for example. Would recommend Isophit to anyone, especially those who are pairing it with another, outside-the-gym activity! Best results probably come with a more consistent schedule than I was able to complete, but I'm glad for the experience nonetheless!

I started on my FIT program about 4 months ago, and I couldn’t be happier! I’m a mountain and road biker, so I maintain a good level of fitness, but I’ve never done any kind of weight training before or had a personal trainer, so it has been a challenge in that it is all new. The coaches have helped me progress through my programs with patient, persistent instruction and plenty of encouragement. I came in with some shoulder issues and then injured my knee outside of the gym. Coach Sam was able to design my program so I could keep going through the healing process and make progress while avoiding any injury aggravation. I am now pretty much healed and I am feeling the results of my work as I begin the warm season of bicycling. Many Thanks to my team of coaches, they care about what they are doing, and it shows.

I joined the FIT family this past fall with a simple goal in mind- to increase my strength and endurance for a ski trip in January. I knew a 4 day trip out west would be challenging and I wanted to be ready. I have just returned from my trip and the training I have done over the past 4 months paid off! I was in excellent condition and never needed a rest break. Beyond training for the trip, the FIT program has made me happy in my body again. Learning new strength exercises and then continuing to build strength each week has been empowering and exciting. I have now set longer term goals and look forward to working to achieve them. The coaches at FIT listen to your requests and help find the right exercises for your body. They also adjust their coaching to match your individual preference. I am glad to have found this gym and look forward to continuing my fitness journey.

In short, FIT is a gym that's 1 in 1,000,000 in all the best ways. After tearing my ACL almost 16 months ago, I chose to rehab it without surgery and completed 12 months of physical therapy. I knew I needed to find a gym that would keep me safe and supported as I continued to build strength that would allow me to return to my previous level of activity (playing ultimate frisbee, running, etc). During my consult visit, Jared was thorough in assessing my goals and setting me up for success at FIT. It's been about 3 months now, and I have nothing but the best things to say about my experience at FIT and can confidently say I've found my gym home. The environment is so positive and encouraging. The personal training program really is the best combination of individualized programming in a shared fitness community. The coaches are all fantastic and having the opportunity to work with different coaches (Sam, Matt, Leah, and Jon) has enriched my training. I have to give a special shout-out to Sam. Sam builds intentional, effective programs that are fun and dynamic. He is extremely knowledgable about muscle mechanics and physiology, and communicates clearly about the goal of each exercise in a program. I am so grateful that I found my way to FIT. It's not a regular gym, it's a cool gym.

FIT offers a variety of programs individualized towards each person’s objectives – small group training, personal training, youth performance, etc. They also offer Isophit training – an innovative, total body workout focused on isometric strength training. The curriculum of this program, coupled with the outstanding, technically-trained Coaches will achieve your goals. I’ve had two back surgeries, one shoulder surgery and numerous abdominal surgeries for Crohn’s and Isophit has produced greater results than any of the other fitness activities that I’ve done – weight training, spin, hot yoga, HIIT, etc. It is an incredible compliment to any beginner or advanced fitness enthusiast. The FIT team embraces a consultative and thorough evaluation process and truly understands the client. I strongly recommend the FIT team, the community in their gym and the positive impact of their approach.

Whether you're a seasoned athlete or someone new to lifting and fitness, you'll leave each session feeling stronger, more confident, and with a big smile on your face!

Coming up on my 1 year anniversary and I couldn’t be more excited for the next year. I am in the fit strong group class. The trainers make me feel like I am in a personnel training class! The encouragement is always there! I had a neck injury from some outside activities and the trainers helped me continue with my training and always guiding me with the proper adjustments needed so as not to cause further injury.
To be honest I was not sure a weight lifting program was for me. But after 11 months I’m hooked! The drive and push and satisfaction is in full force!
You will hear “ the fit community and the fit family” often and it truly is I always look forward to my fit family time ❤️

I had to refrain myself from writing a novel about how great FIT is. My top thought would be how all the coaches are wonderful. They are knowledgeable, welcoming, and have fantastic personalities. Also, if you think fitness should be fun, this is the place. Yes the workouts can be challenging. However, I always leave feeling happy I went. Keeps me out of shenanigans. No matter where you are at in your fitness journey, there is a place for you at this gym.

I've been coming to FIT since 2018. I started in Foundations, moved to Athlete training and then joined the Olympic Weightlifting team in 2019. In spring of 2021 I suffered a knee injury while skiing, which resulted in a recovery period that spanned over two years. Today, not only have I fully recovered, but I've exceeded all my personal best lifts from before my injury, including back and front squats which the surgeon was skeptical I could do again at a heavy weight. The entire FIT coaching staff and FIT family were encouraging on my journey. Coach Max was with me every step of the way making sure I didn't overdo it. I have a busy travel schedule for work also and have options for continuing to train while on the road. I highly recommend Functional Integrated Training for anyone looking to get stronger and more fit - whether you are new to exercise or a serious athlete - they will work with you to improve your fitness as well as set and reach your goals.

I can't say enough good things about my experience at FIT. I am a total beginner when it comes to working out in general, I've never been able to maintain a consistent fitness routine and so I was very nervous to start personal training at FIT. From day 1 Coach Sam and Coach Max made me feel so comfortable and have taught me so much. I've never felt out of place or judged for being a beginner and have gained so much confidence and strength. I actually *enjoy* working out, which is something I never thought I would say. Shout out to Coach Sam and Max for making my MWF mornings fun and productive!

FIT has helped me become the strongest I've ever been and exceeded my expectations! I joined a year ago and have really enjoyed the personalized program. All of the coaches are very knowledgeable and encouraging. I've enjoyed working with Coach Matt every week because he helps me work toward my specific goals and also makes it fun.

I've done strength training in various gyms throughout my life, but never had a personalized program and didn't lift heavy enough for fear of injuring myself. FIT has helped me learn the proper form and lift heavy weights. This has improved my overall strength and fitness and I'm faster and experience less pain in the endurance sports I love - cycling and xc skiing. I've also never loved working out indoors and would much rather be outside. I truly look forward to working out every week at FIT and enjoy talking to all of the fun and friendly people there.

Since joining FIT 3 years ago, I've seen a dramatic improvement in my athletic performance and physical appearance. The coaches do a great job designing programming that meets my needs while working around chronic injuries that have historically limited prolonged success in the gym. Culture is key as the coaching staff and fellow gym members feel invested in my success in and out of the gym. I'd recommend FIT to everyone, especially those that may struggle with nagging injuries that make it harder to sustain success in the gym.

I have historically pursued endurance sports but have been derelict in strength training, leaving me likely short of my potential and definitely at risk of injury- injuries in middle age and the added weight that came from them have slowed me down the last few years. I joined F.I.T. to remedy this dereliction and am thrilled with what we have achieved together. Thanks to personalized training plans and coaching I have come along way in my time at FIT, culminating last week in a bucket-list popular and challenging 200 mile gravel cycling race that I completed. The endurance/CV (and hard-headedness) part of the equation I had done on my own over the course of years, but I am positive that I would not have been able to continue to make the climbs while exhausted or to maybe even just hold myself up on the bike over the miles of gravel chatter, without the strength progress I’ve made at FIT. Thus my coaches have literally helped me achieve a dream!

FIT has an encouraging and un-intimidating atmosphere with clients of various skill levels and demographics, so one does not feel out of place. The coaches have been patient in training me on correct methodology despite my general lack of body awareness. I am glad I was pointed to FIT and look forward to continued development and reduction injury risk. And hopefully an opportunity to take some time off my next marathon or another go at that gravel race! Thanks much to the FIT coaches!

I've been going to FIT for about a year and a half now and have really loved the group classes and overall community atmosphere of the gym. The structure of the 6-week programs ensure consistent strength gain, but are dynamic and have enough variety that you don't get bored with the exercises week after week. The coaches are amazingly supportive and helpful. They are great at pushing you to improve while making sure you feel comfortable when trying new things or increasing weight. The coaches and other members have been incredibly friendly and welcoming, so the class atmosphere is fun and easy-going which makes a huge difference in my motivation to go.

I've run on and off for most of my life, but have always had to stop because of intense back pain. Eventually, I dropped it entirely because the pain wasn't worth it. After the past year-ish with FIT, I was able to run my first half marathon without pain or injuries last month and have already started training for a full marathon! I'm the strongest I've ever been and actually look forward to working out now. A huge thanks to Coach Sam for helping me realize my strength and encouraging me to push myself! I highly recommend checking out the gym if you want to switch up your routine or are new to the Madison area.

I started at FIT in 2022 after many years of going without any structured fitness routine. I knew from the first assessment that FIT knew what they were doing. Soon I couldn’t wait to be in the gym 3x a week with their personal training program, tailored to first getting me familiar with functional movement and then evolving to being tailored specifically to movement and strength I wanted to develop. The friendly, phone-less atmosphere made it easy to focus and connect with other members and coaches; I looked forward to my sessions and I saw changes in my strength, mobility, and physical appearance in no time. I’ll really miss the environment here as I move to a new city, but am feeling so empowered to continue my fitness journey with newfound skills and confidence in any gym! Special shout outs to coaches Shawn, Sam, and Matt for keeping it fun and always pushing me to try new things!

I have never been someone who has gone to a “gym”. I have now been at FIT for 7 months, 3 times a week. I was a runner, now a road biker and have had years of weak shoulders that occasionally hurt to sleep on wrong. I am a
skinny long distance runner type essentially. I have been so pleased with the supportive coaching and guidance I’ve received here, allowing me to build strength without injury. I enjoy the way my body looks and feels, more solid feeling and muscular in the upper body and shoulders than I have ever been in my life, now at age 57. My shoulders don’t hurt to sleep on anymore. I would have laughed if someone had asked would I be going to the gym 3 times a week a year ago, but now I look forward to see what I can do next and how I will feel after the next program written for me. Thanks to everyone in the FIT family!

I approached the FIT team for help with a “prehabilitation” program prior to total hip replacement. Years of running and jumping did a number on my body. :)

I sincerely feel the muscle-specific training made a huge difference in my recovery. I was walking with no assistive devices five days after surgery and back in the gym 10 days later. The team worked with me to create plans that changed as my recovery allowed and were encouraging every step of the way.

I started working out at FIT a little over a year ago, and both the experience and results have been fantastic. The best compliment I can give the FIT team is that their personal training program has changed from something I want to do to something I need to do! Sam and Max, specifically, are truly great trainers. They teach, empower, and encourage members and are always there to address concerns or answer questions. The variation I’m provided here is wonderful, I never get bored and am always challenged - which has lead to growth in multiple ways. I couldn’t give a higher recommendation - from
the day I walked in and my evaluation with Jared, to the day to day with Sam and Max, to the encouragement and laughs with Matt or the amazing interns they employ- FIT does it right, with a true focus on individual development and growth that is tailored to personal goals and history, backed by the most educated and passionate trainers around. The gym family, members included, is an environment and team I would recommend without a moment of hesitation.

I started training twice a week at FIT about 11 months ago. I had torn the meniscus in my right knee the previous spring while playing hockey and wanted to strengthen the muscles around the joint to prevent another injury. The knee has stayed healthy and I'm skating better and shooting harder than I did before I got hurt. I have also gained 15 pounds of muscle after struggling to put on weight after developing celiac disease. I'd say that it continues to be well worth the investment in myself.

Turning 65 years old this year I had to make some hard choices about my health. Between the doctors and my loving wife I was convinced to join the Fit family. Four months ago my blood pressure was off the charts, weight was 221 lbs(I’m 5’9”) and basic daily movements were all painful. Jared told me don’t worry about the weight, let’s build your core back and everything else will fall into place. I’ve put all my trust in Sam to design the programs to move me forward and he has exceeded my expectations. Having the guidance and oversight in the Fit personal training class both protects me from hurting myself and insures maximum effect for my efforts.
The Fit personal training class has given me a completely new outlook on life. For the first time in many years, I am pain free. My blood pressure has dropped back into a fabulous range, my weight(Jared was correct) is hovering around 185 and I feel great! Four months ago I dreaded putting my socks on, today I wake up stretching and thinking about my next workout. Getting older is hard but FIT has shown me I am still in control. I honestly can’t wait to see what the next year brings. How you feel is a personal choice!

I had started weightlifting a bit on my own, and I wish I had got to a personal trainer sooner. After a bit of time at FIT my form was much better and I feel confident I can go in to a gym and work on weightlifting safely. This is big for me as I've always been uncomfortable athletically.

Fantastic place to get training. I'm very glad I went here specifically. Beyond everyone being friendly, it felt inclusive. The trainers wouldn't put up with too much self deprication and were also great at encouraging you to do the best you can. I would recommend going for a consultation and giving this gym a shot.

I joined FIT after a multitude of injuries from years of endurance training. The trainers are very knowledgeable, providing personalized workout plans tailored to my specific needs. A great environment, combined with targeted exercises played a crucial role in healing my injuries and rebuilding strength and stability.

I have been at FIT for the last 2.5 months, and joining was 100% the best impulsive decision (well, probably any decision) I have ever made. During the COVID pandemic, I became the most sedentary I had ever been, and after three years of feeling week and having a decreasing self image, I started looking for a local gym to join.

FIT's atmosphere is SO welcoming and comfortable. I love that the classes are mixed gender, all ages, and all body types. All of the coaches are so helpful and encouraging, but I have to give a shout out to Matt and Shawn, both of whom I have loved working with. This was my first time exercising in a while, but my first time using equipment and lifting weights ever, and they were so receptive to any and all questions I had, and so supportive of my personal improvement.

On my initial physical assessment appointment, Jared, the owner, stressed that although many people join a gym with the goal of weight loss (and that's great if that's your goal), their main focus is helping you get stronger and to enjoy the activities you want to do in life, and have an easier time doing them. Even though I'm only two months in, I'm already noticing this in my own life. I re-joined an Okinawan drumming group I used to practice with, and have also joined a Japanese taiko group in Madison, largely due to the renewed confidence I have gained after joining their FIT foundations classes.

I am so grateful for all of the positive changes joining FIT has already brought into my life, and I look forward to training with them for years to come!

I am a former Division I athlete who worked themselves silly during the pandemic (read=did far too little exercise and absorbed far too much stress). FIT has been a gym that welcomed me as I was. Challenged me. Laughed with me. And most importantly, reminded me of what my body can do and who I am. I could not be more pleased with the results. I have spent a lot of time in gyms over my life. This one is truly special.

I've been going to Personal Training at FIT for over 2 years and I LOVE it! My first introduction to the gym was via my kids who were in the ADAPT program. By the way, if you have kiddos who are athletes (or not), get them in that program because it's awesome. They build so many skills and confidence. And it's those qualities that gave me the push to sign up myself.

I've never been a gym person. Athletic as a kid and college student but not ever, ever a gym person. As my kids were about to leave high school, I started noticing that I had quite a bit of lower back pain, not as much endurance for stuff like yard work, and actually my stability and strength were slipping a little too. I knew exercising was the answer but I was really nervous about going to the gym - I had no idea what the exercises or equipment were - and, like a lot of people, I was worried about not being able to keep up or getting injured.

I need not have worried! We set goals at that very first meeting and every 6 weeks we reevaluate those goals. Every single coach at FIT always asks "How are you feeling today?" They always check if you are feeling ok with an exercise, they always answer questions about the exercise you are doing, and they always have a way to modify the exercise so you are comfortable and successful. They build trust - and to me this is the "secret sauce" to FIT. Because I trust my coach - currently the fabulous Matt DeFiebre - I achieve so much and build confidence every single session.

As a result I feel better, I no longer have lower back pain and I have extra confidence in my ability to do everyday strength tasks.

I highly recommend FIT - all their coaches are awesome and it's such a great, fun atmosphere!

I joined FIT in January and I love it so much! It's only been 4 months but I've seen a lot of progress. I'm so much stronger and feel so much better in my day-to-day life both mentally and physically. Whether you're looking to start working out for the first time in your life or you're a seasoned work out pro this is a really great gym for everyone, you'll find a class option that works for you. The teachers and other members are so fun that I truly look forward to going to classes. And I think it's also very fairly priced, I go to 3 classes/week at FIT for the same price as I was getting 1 class/week at a bigger gym.

I was apprehensive when I joined F.I.T. almost 2 years ago because I felt I had lost so much strength, and I had no energy. My initial meeting to come up with a fitness program based on my goals and where I was physically at the time was very encouraging. I was relieved to know the personal training program would fit my goals and have lots of structure and support—and I am happy today to say, “Wow, this really works!”
F.I.T. is a place of positive energy, wonderful professional coaches, friendly people, and encouragement galore! I can’t say enough about how enjoyable it is to go in and work out because of the professional training, encouragement and support the coaches give. I always feel really successful and positive about how my balance, flexibility, and strength just gradually, painlessly keeps improving.
Functional Integrated Training, i.e. F.I.T. is, in my opinion, perfectly named because for me it has meant all the difference in my daily living. I would highly encourage anyone who just wants to grow in their self-improvement to give it a try. It really works!

Started at FIT six weeks ago in their Olympic weightlifting program. Best decision of my life. Even in these beginning stages, I am stronger, have better joint mobility, and can feel my entire body becoming one powerful unit. Having a coach and teammates to support and guide me is invaluable. Cannot recommend this gym enough. These videos were taken during at-home training, and I train at FIT's facility 3x/weekly.

I have been going to FIT since September and I cannot say enough amazing things! I was hesitant when I first started because I was having a lot of lower back pain that was preventing me from doing a lot of things I love (like basketball) and I’m weary about the emphasis gyms place on weight loss and body image. It can be hard for people without the “media approved” body size to find spaces where you belong, especially in a gym where losing weight is the ultimate goal. Instantly, though, I knew FIT was the place for me. It is such an inclusive space where the emphasis is not on becoming a smaller version of yourself, but instead a healthier, stronger, more confident version. I am able to play basketball now for as long as the court will allow, and it has improved my mental health drastically. I move better, I feel better, and I am overall happier. I’ve made amazing friends (including the coaches) and I’m excited to show up every day, even on the days I don’t feel 100%. The coaches meet you where you are at and I always leave feeling better than when I showed up. FIT is absolutely worth all the time and money I have invested and I’m excited to see where it will take me moving forward. Extra shout out to Shawn, Matt, and Sam!

I’m sad to be leaving FIT soon, and it’s only because the commute from the West Coast would be hard. After having my first child, this gym was the perfect re-introduction for me to work on form and build strength back up. They encourage and support you in challenging yourself but never pressure you to up the intensity. The small group personal training classes were easy to schedule around my workday with both evening and morning options available. Every coach I worked with had helpful perspective and they worked together as a team fabulously. Simple, focused, and effective all while keeping a positive energy — I haven’t found anything quite like it anywhere else!

The personal trainers are highly qualified and offer a wide range of services, from one-on-one training to group fitness classes. The classes are diverse, challenging, and well-structured. The gym is always clean and well-maintained, with a comfortable atmosphere.

I also appreciate the convenient location. Overall, I highly recommend FIT to anyone looking for a high-quality workout experience. The combination of top-notch equipment, knowledgeable staff and great facilities make FIT an excellent choice for achieving fitness goals.

I have been working out at this gym for over 5 years. I love that everyone is so encouraging. From the other gym members, coaches and the owner I am 100% supported. I turn 65 years old in a few months and I am much, much stronger than I was 5 years ago. There is nothing like hitting a personal record and looking back at where you were a year ago and seeing the progress. All of the trainers provide very specific instruction and guidance on getting the most out of the movements and keeping good form to prevent injury. I never could have made this progress on my own. I needed the expertise of professionals to get this far. Love my gym!

I have been training at FIT for about three months. I previously trained with weights from my late teens to my early 30s, primarily working alone. When I returned to weight training this past summer, I experienced the same struggles as I had previously: some muscle groups were relatively easy to see gains while others never seemed to advance. Max, Sam and Jared are invested in my fitness goals (improving functional strength while fixing muscle strength imbalances.) I am most impressed by the efficient training programs Max has developed for me. I no longer find weight training to be grueling and boring. My workouts are smarter and provide obvious results. Most importantly, I feel great!

I’m seeing 85 five star reviews and nothing else, which looks about right to me. This place changed my life. I used to wake up every day with back pain and knee pain, but after about two months I noticed that pain was gone. Hasn’t returned. After about eight months I was the strongest I’d ever been, at 47 years old. The team from Jared on down is kind, capable, and enthusiastic, and cheer you on when you hit new personal bests. The other people training there are regular folks, albeit with really strong lower backs, and the experience of training in such a genuine, positive environment is just amazing. Try it out, you’ll be happy you did.

I've been a regular member at FIT for 5 years now and am a strong advocate for this place!

Before I started here, I only ever fantasized that I could be the sort of person who works out consistently and stays in shape. As a new business owner and entrepreneur, it was important to me that I have enough energy and focus to make my new company succeed. Also, I was getting married in a few months and wanted to be in good shape at my wedding.

I really benefited from the direction of FIT's coaches in the MPT program, now called Foundations. I'd messed around with weights before, but had never really had a consistent program to drive toward goals and increase my strength over time. The group training was particularly effective as a motivator to keep coming in regularly and making progress, which is the key to getting and staying in shape.

Within just a few weeks, people who knew me regularly commented that I seemed to be in better shape than ever. I had the focus I needed to grow my business and I loved the feeling of hitting PRs on the different types of lifts. After a few months, I was in the best shape of my life.

I've now been in this program for 5 years and it's a regular part of my life and schedule. It forces me to get to bed on time, wake up in the morning, and start the day right. I love the feeling of showering afterward and starting my day with high energy. I know from personal experience that many people are just rolling out of bed groggy by the time I'm ready to rock.

I strongly recommend joining FIT, which is not just a place to learn how to get and stay in shape, but also a thriving community of welcoming and positive people. The small monthly investment could easily change your life, as it has mine.

Hope to see you in a group coaching session alongside me!

I joined FIT Madison shortly after things started opening up after Covid. I had spent several months walking just to get out of the house. As summer approached I decided it would be the perfect time to really work on creating an exercise habit. Facebook "heard" me and randomly popped up an ad for FIT. Two years later I can say I made one of the best decisions of my life the day I met with Jared. I have scheduled my sessions and followed through because of the coaches and the FIT Family who are encouraging to all levels of fitness and inspiring! Coach Shawn has given me confidence to do more. She will take my equipment and switch it out with something heavier or she'll say "you can do more!" Our workouts are challenging, fun, and sometimes include trivia and an occasional treat! I never imagined I'd be out flipping tires and pushing 150 pound sleds up and down a parking lot while having fun! I highly recommend Functional Integrated Fitness.

I have been a member of FIT for 7 years and average 3-4 workouts a week. The coaches (special shoutout to Max for being there to push me every M,W,F at 5:30am), program writing, focus on technique and gym culture are second to none. As I’ve transitioned from my late 30’s into my early 40’s I have found that my regular FIT workouts keep me mobile, strong, and able to do all the active things in life I enjoy and secondarily it’s a great stress reliever. I have been at FIT for 6+ years. The thing that I love most about FIT is its inclusivity and friendly atmosphere. I enjoy the coaches' knowledge and encouragement, and the education they provide (nutrition, kinesiology, sleep, recovery). I greatly appreciate how FIT modified their business plan during the COVID lockdown, making sure we had the resources for home workouts by loaning their equipment to all members. The live Zoom workouts were hard, and kept me on my workout schedule during the pandemic. Transitioning back into the in-gym workouts was easy, and safe. The biggest change I have seen in me is my increase in strength and muscle tone, and a decrease in body fat. FIT is like a group of really great friends, or close family. There is no judgement, there is no shaming, there is only hard work (very hard), great laughter, and always something to leave the gym happy about.

I joined FIT on a 3 month commitment thinking I had no interest or love for strength training, would likely hate it, and was really just giving it a try because I was dealing with an injury from triathlon training. Well… that was over 7 years ago and have been training at FIT all that time! :) Hahaha!!

Needless to say, getting and feeling strong and healthy has been amazing and the culture and expertise at FIT is second to none! FIT creates an environment that is approachable yet will push and develop you as an athlete.

Over the years, FIT has helped me in my preparation for world championship level triathlons, to helping me have a healthy and active pregnancy/postpartum, to getting through injuries, to getting ready for big ski touring trips and ski seasons, to developing me as a strength athlete!

The coaches at FIT don’t just throw you into ‘just another’ group class of random workouts - you get truly personalized attention that will ensure you are educated on proper form, movement, and progression from where YOU are at.

It’s an amazing how some work in the gym has helped in so many ways allowing me to go through daily life feeling great and being able to pick up new sports and weekend activities without hesitation or worrying if my body will ‘hold up’!

I joined FIT on a recommendation from a friend. I had a membership at several local gyms but had reached a point where I was ready for something new. Weightlifting in general is something I have found intimidating in the past, but it is the thing that I need the most external motivation to accomplish. I can do cardio on my own by going for a walk or a run or a bike ride. Learning lifts, fine tuning my form and lifting heavy at FIT is working. I have been visibly building muscle to a point where I have had several people notice even though building muscle was not my initial goal. I wanted to learn legitimate weightlifting lifts and reinvigorate my fitness goals. I may or may not have an unverbalized goal to be able to lift more than my son. I am definitely well on my way to accomplishing those. The small Foundations classes are friendly fun while not being intrusive or too intense. I’m looking forward to seeing what I can do next.

FIT coaches also worked with my son on a personal program to help with his running goals. The coaches are very knowledgeable and motivating and FUN! I’ve always been a recreational runner because it was the easiest thing to do with young kids, but after my second child I tried to get back into it and found myself dealing with injury after injury. I knew I needed to add strength training into my routine, but I was never motivated at home and I was so turned off by the gyms that focused on calories burned and changing your body size. But the second I walked into FIT I knew I found the exact place I was looking for! Coming from injuries I love how knowledgeable and experienced all the coaches are.. Jared was able to nail down the root of my injuries in just the 15 minute assessment and it’s been amazing to see my running feel great again and feel STRONG for the first time in my life! But it’s not only that that keeps me coming back, it’s the staff and the people at FIT that make it such a great community! I can’t praise how positive the environment is, from everyone knowing each other’s name to the body, age, and ability inclusivity that all places should have! I was miserable from a back injury 25 yrs ago that flared up during our 3 month car trip throughout west USA. I came across FIT and thought it was costly but I have got to get great help and I have to commit to going regularly. It has now been 6 months And I have gone from twice daily CBD use, chronic pain, frailty to a 69 year old with strength, better balance, confidence and finally relief from pain! The 1 on 1 training has been a God-send, they have kept me on a steady path of improvement through a variety of exercises so that I don’t overwork an area, use good form and don’t get bored then quit. My update after one year at FIT.

I have been at FIT for a little over a year. The thing that I love most about FIT is the atmosphere. I enjoy the way I feel most after training with the sense of accomplishment that coincides. The biggest change I have seen is my strength and the renewed habit of exercise.

I want to give a shout out to all the staff and Jared. Everyone is so knowledgeable and always make me feel welcome and appreciated as a member of the community. The community along with staff are great about encouragement.

Last but not least a big thanks to my personal coach Sam Hebert. Sam sticks with me through thick and thin. He amazes me every day with his knowledge and patience. I can not thank Sam enough. If you are looking for a gym to call home I encourage you to visit.

My first post:
I want to thank everyone at Functional Integrated Training (FIT) for a fantastic training experience. I have spent a lot of time with personal training over the years and FIT is new for me. The FIT experience is the best because I always feel welcome and acknowledged. Travis spends time making sure my program is working for me and my goals. The program is just for me and a challenge but something I can do. I have new challenges built in each session and I know what is expected each day.
In the past at other Gyms, I could justify paying for training once per week or every other. Other training days I was on my own. Now with my FIT program I can afford multiple days per week where I can train and have a supervised and especially encouraging and challenging plan. Thank you to everyone at FIT. I am telling my friends and family.

This community truly is a happy place for me, even when I’m beyond tired from teaching teenagers all day. I have also noticed an improvement in my ability to perform everyday activities. The outstanding coaches are very knowledgeable and exercising in a group setting increases my motivation.
The other big factor is they vary the training. Many times I have started a workout routine only to get bored and quit. FIT warmup, cardio and station training vary while core strength training rotates on a 6 week schedule keeping the workouts fresh and interesting.

I started out at F.I.T. a few years back for a training/weight loss program that they were offering up. I told them very clearly at that time that I did not want to join a gym. And here I over 4 years later! 😃 I was an avid volleyball player for 20+ years but hurt my wrist and couldn’t play anymore so I needed to try something new. I worked out at another gym and just felt on my own the whole time and never felt motivated. F.I.T. is not like any other gym I’ve ever been to. They make you feel like family here. I always have felt comfortable. The trainers here really care about you and your progress. They show you the correct way to lift weights and do all the other exercises. They are very motivational and push you to do better every time! I love that there’s so much variety. It’s such a motivating and fun environment to work out at! I feel stronger every time I work out there. I ended up moving within those 4 years and made sure that I was still close enough to the gym. It’s my home away from home! Thank you F.I.T. for making my life better in so many ways.

I joined FIT about 6 months ago, and I couldn’t be happier! I felt welcome from the very first day!

Jared met with me prior to joining to discuss my goals, injuries or limitations and assess my movement so I’d be set up for success.

The trainers are THE BEST! Shout out to Coach Veronica and Coach Shawn. I honestly look forward to each and every class with them. They check in with me during the workout, offer feedback on form and I get personalized motivational text messages afterwards! 🤩

The supportive and inclusive culture at FIT makes me so happy! I can truly say being a part of the FIT family has improved my mental and physical health. And as a mom, I’ve been able to discuss pelvic floor health concerns with my trainers. It can be an uncomfortable topic for women, but so important to address in order to make progress with your fitness goals and overall confidence in the gym.

FIT cares about your goals, offers modifications as needed and there are a variety of classes to support your life, goals and schedule.

In prior years I did my own home workouts, but I’d plateaued and wanted something different. I was recommended to try F.I.T. and am so happy I did. I love the way they’ve created a custom program for my personal fitness goals, and every 6 weeks they create a new version with new exercises to keep things fresh and fun, and I’m learning so much. The guidance and support of the coaches and other members is great, and I feel motivated to continue by the environment and energy at the gym. In the past I was hesitant to spend the money for a gym membership, thinking I can just do it on my own, but I’ve found the money is well worth it - especially given the physical and mental benefits I’m experiencing. I’m so happy I made the decision to join the F.IT. community.

I have been "consistently" going to F.I.T three times a week for the last two months, minus a two-week Christmas break. :) This last week I noticed a shift that's happening on the inside and I want to share about it. I mainly work from home now and for the majority of my day I am sedentary. I have been active most of my life, mainly with team sports but also some running. In Nov. '19, my wife and I ran the Madison Half Marathon. We finished under our goal of 2hrs:30mins, but it beat me up. I tried running a few times after, but the desire waned and I slowly drifted from marathon training to marathon "eating, drinking, and being merry". Fast forward a year to Nov.'20. I had been complaining to my wife to stop drying my clothes on such high heat because everything was tight, but what I didn't want to accept or believe is that I had become 50lbs heavier and tipped the scales past 300lbs. OMG!!!

It was a this point I knew I needed to do something. I belong to a program at work that partially pays for a gym membership and I began searching for gyms that participate and the first one that came up was F.I.T. I pulled the trigger and joined. The first month, month in a half, was brutal and I dreaded going every time. Before each session my mind and body would conspire against me by coming up with reasons as to why I shouldn't go. I pressed beyond that and just made myself go despite the pain and agony my body was going through. By sticking with it that 'internal shift' that I mentioned at the beginning began to happen. I noticed that my mind and body were no longer conspiring but actually delighting and excited to go. The intensity of the workouts haven't decreased but I have noticed some significant weight loss (20+lbs), improved self-confidence, and my wife seems to be drying my clothes on low again. YAY!!!

The last thing I want to mention that has been THE major contributing factor to the success I have had thus far, is the F.I.T staff and other members. The staff are extremely qualified and experienced. The programs are personalized and you track your progress from week to week. They know how to push you beyond what you think your body can handle, but at the same time they are constantly asking for feedback about how you're body's feeling, any injuries updates and they are sensitive to ensure we stay healthy and injury free. On top of all that, the staff and the members make it fun and enjoyable to work out. Whether it's the music that's played, the dancing that goes on, or the jokes, I no longer dread going but look forward to it.

I joined FIT in June and love it. I keep coming back, which says a lot!

On numerous occasions my PT has mentioned what a great job they do with exercise substitutions. She also recently said, “Those are great exercises.” and “They really know what they are doing”.

My chiropractor has told me I’m in the best shape he has ever seen me.

The coaches are great and the atmosphere is welcoming. I really am enjoying getting stronger with my new “gym friends”!

FIT has made a great difference in my ability to be physically functional again and the sequence and type of exercises have very much reduced my chronic back pain!! I feel so good after one hour of personal training that I can't wait to go back. After four month of training, I feel a lot strength and have regained most of my old abilities back. In fact, because of how FIT changed my life, my husband and son also decided to join in. We all feel so good after our training that we have made this as our biweekly family event together. In addition, I love the fact that the place does not feel like a busy smelly gym and has a playground feel to it. So we can't wait to go back and play and be a kid again. Finally, the staff is very knowledgable about specific individual's needs. They keep optimizing and prescribing physical exercises that are most effective for each individual. Thanks FIT for helping me to live a full life again!!

I joined FIT in the fall of 2019 because I was struggling with pain and falling behind on my fitness game since I broke my neck 2.5 years ago. My coaches at FIT have helped me learn how to increase my strength properly with my “new body.” Since joining FIT my chronic pain has been much more manageable, I have more energy and my hope to achieve completing marathons and triathlons is back. They answer all my questions and their support is genuine - they feel like family. I always leave FIT with a smile on my face, motivation for the next challenge and a bod that feels great.

Awesome, Awesome, Awesome...I love FIT!
I used to go to the other big name gyms in Madison and would stay there an hour and do the same thing over and over with no gains. Since I have joined FIT (thanks to my wife) I feel that my body is stronger and balanced. Their training plan focuses on the whole body. The best part of FIT is once you join you're family. If you want to get back into shape I strongly recommend FIT.

I began working out at FIT during my freshman year of High School and will continue throughout the summer as I just finished my freshman year of college. The FIT environment was the biggest thing that drew me in. I had worked with personal trainers, as well as group training programs, previous to being at FIT but there was always a feeling of a “big guy in the gym” showing it was “his place”. However, working out at FIT is a friendly environment where the trainers, as well as fellow athletes, are willing to help me achieve my goals. Being a competitive person, FIT is a great place where I have met people who push me to do my best every time I step in the gym as well as meet people who I feel comfortable “competing” against and pushing me in my workout.

Being a “Late Bloomer” developmentally, it was satisfying to be able to finally see a physical change in my body appearance and continue to break personal records. FIT helped me gain a lot of confidence and achieve goals where I proved myself qualified and was nominated to be a captain for my junior and senior year of High School lacrosse. My greatest payoff was having a dream come true when I began to be recruited by a couple colleges to play lacrosse. Although I did not end up playing lacrosse at the collegiate level, I am still playing club lacrosse and having fun as a starting midfielder at the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire. I strongly believe that FIT helped me accomplish my personal best throughout my High School athletic career and beyond. In addition to athletics, FIT has taught me the proper techniques to stay in shape and also the benefits that working out can be a stress reliever and a lifelong healthy habit.

I've been coming to FIT for 7 months now and have made a ton of progress.

This is my first experience with barbell training and it's been enlightening. I've found that I'm weak in areas where I thought I was strong and vice versa. The weight on the bar doesn't lie or deceive. I like that kind of solid feedback.

All the trainers are fantastic. I've been primarily working with Luke who has been very patient providing explanations for the minutiae of the exercises. He's also been great at modifying exercises so my extremely inflexible 53 year old body can still do them. We're working on the inflexible part too.

I'd never do this on my own. The accountability to Luke and the group training atmosphere have been key factors in the successes I've achieved. I highly recommend FIT to anyone who wants to get stronger, no matter where you're at now.

I began working out at FIT following a knee injury from football my sophomore year of high school. I had worked with Jared previously and knew that it would be best for my recovery if I started training with him again. It was one of the best decisions I have made in my life. Training at FIT took me from being a practice player who sat on the bench all year to starting every game my senior year and earning a scholarship to play collegiate football at Northern Michigan University. During my senior year of high school countless people asked me what I did to improve so much in the off-season and I always credited Jared and the trainers at FIT. I owe every athletic accomplishment I have ever had to the phenomenal training I received at FIT. One of the biggest things that separates FIT from other gyms that I have worked out at is it is a very enjoyable environment to train in. I always looked forward to my workouts instead of dreading them. I only wish Jared opened the gym sooner so that I could have started there at a younger age.

I have been very impressed with his patience and positive attitude while working with me (I know how difficult that can be at times…). I cannot come up with the words to truly express my gratitude for what he has helped me accomplish. I absolutely love working out at FIT and have done so since last July. All the coaches care so much about you as a person and an athlete. They want you to be as successful as possible, but they also work extremely hard to prevent injury. FIT coaches work with the level of mobility you are at and help you personally become better. Whatever your goal is, that's what they help you work towards. It does not matter your size, ability or previous experience. They will meet you where you're at and help you improve from there! FIT is a community of people all trying to be their best! The FIT family is a real thing! And one you should join if you want real progress and change for the better!!

I just received an email from FIT congratulating me on my one year anniversary there. One year ago I went there weighing the heaviest I have ever been, knowing that something needed to be done, not just because of the weight, but because I lacked self-esteem, confidence, energy, & all the other things that made me love who I was, pre-baby weight. Today, I'm down 50 pounds, & FEEL AMAZING!!!!!!! I really can't say enough great things about this facility, & all the trainers there that have helped me get to where I am today! From the professionalism, cleanliness, knowledge of trainers, nutritional guidance, gauging of strength, & helping individuals do what they can without causing injury, etc. Anyone can go to a "gym," & workout, but FIT holds you accountable for your success, & progress! I consider this my home away from home, & love the way I feel when I leave there after every workout!

Functional Integrated Training has changed me from a "I'll never workout consistently unless I can do it at home or within walking distance" to someone who wakes up before the sun to drive 25 minutes to get to the gym. The synergy of the experience within the coaching staff makes this gym great for a novice or an Olympic weight lifter.

This is my first experienced in a group-workout-oriented gym. I've been going for over a year now and I can't believe how much I enjoy the trainers and other members at the facility. The classes are great for all levels as each exercise has multiple variations that give you more challenge as you progress. The focus here is truly on an all-encompassing healthy lifestyle. Jared and the rest of the trainers are very knowledgeable about strength training, weight loss, healthy eating, and good habit-forming routines. They're available before, during, and after sessions and are great about answering questions via social media or their training app. All in all, I can't recommend this gym enough!

I've been going to FIT for about 6 months now and it's going great! The coaches are very helpful, and really work with you on proper form and getting stronger. I joined as a beginner with weight training, and the FIT coaches tailored my program based on my experience, injury history, and goals. It's amazing to see how far I've come along in 6 months, and I can honestly say I'm in the best shape I've been in for years.

I'm currently in a FIT member challenge group, and it's given me the extra competition needed to focus more on my lifestyle outside the gym. The group is sharing outside workouts and recipes/meal choices via a FB group, and we're having a great time with it!

FIT truly has something for anyone, from beginners to extreme athletes. Their non-intimidating approach makes it very easy and comfortable to learn the ropes, and their members will help build your motivation.

The trainers and members make the gym a family - I can honestly say that working out is the best part of my day and going to the gym is something I look forward to. I’m excited to give a testimonial for Functional Integrated Training. The F.I.T. team does a fantastic job with group training. With minimal equipment they put you through an easy to follow and easy to execute program that provides a great total body workout.

One thing I appreciate most about F.I.T. is their attention to detail on form. Every exercise is demonstrated and the proper technique is explained thoroughly. They also share the mistakes people often make to help you avoid bad form. During the exercises the trainers walk around and help people improve their form. They do this not only to prevent injury but also to allow you to get the most out of every rep.

The other thing I really appreciate about F.I.T. is their desire to help you improve your mobility in places where you may not be ideally flexible. They screen every participant prior to starting a program. Then they prescribe specific exercises to help improve this movement throughout your training program.

Among other things, these are benefits that simply are not provided at other gyms, especially in a group setting. The team gives each person a touch of personal attention and motivation throughout each workout.

The results are coming and I’m excited to recommend F.I.T. to anyone who would like to improve their conditioning, strength, flexibility, or overall fitness.
