The way the gymnasts are being treated is crazy. Coach Susan is awful to my child. My kid has come home crying many times saying she was "bullied by the coach" She has told my daughter she didn't want her there. And her best friend got kicked off the team for asking how she can improve. My daughter was in tears when she found out her favorite coach had been fired for no reason at all. Coach Susan had also told the other coach "to grow up and act her age." I will be pulling my daughter out of Madtown for this cruelty. DO NOT RECCOMEND

This gym used to be amazing we put my daughter In the tot class about 11 years ago and she had a blast. When she was about 7 she joined the Xcel team as a bronze her coaches were amazing and truly great. My love for the gym was always high until about a year ago, the gym revived a new coach Susan, my daughter at first liked this coach until the coach started “bullying her” my daughter came home multiple times in tears saying her coach called her out very rudely for example she struggles on vault and her coach openly called her out in front of the whole team. ( not just constructive criticism). I sent in an email explaining my concerns and automatically was answered by Jo who has NO role in the Xcel team she told us we would get to meet with the coaches, a day later we received an email that there was no point in meeting with the coaches and the team was no longer fit for my daughter and she wasn’t aloud back. My daughter is now at a new gym and is so much happier. (If Susan coaches your kids be aware)

We just finished our second week of a tots class. I had signed my daughter up to give it a try. When I arrived, coach Jo asked why my son wasn’t doing it. Other than thinking he might be to young, there really wasn’t a reason other than a little worry he wouldn’t stay focused for a 45 minute class. Jo thought he was old enough and he happily joined his sister and had the time of his life. He didn’t want to leave! My daughter enjoyed the class but was a little afraid of the bars. She was reluctant to try the second week because she was so afraid. Coach Jo eased her worry and was so kind and caring with her. Her style and delivery may be different than other teachers, but it’s not bad by any means. She has a clear passion for coaching kiddos and it is also clear she truly cares about each and every kid. I think it’s important that my children have experiences being coached and taught by people with all different styles. My son is a little free spirited almost 3 year old who didn’t always follow the directions to a T and coach Jo just gave him reminders on what he needed to be doing or where he needed to go :) Grace was also helping with the class and was also great with the kids! The structure of the class was fantastic! Both classes moved to 5-6 different spaces throughout the gym and did a variety of activities in each space. It was a 45 minute class and my kids never seemed bored. Bottom line, give this place a try if you’re thinking about trying out gymnastics with your littles. Know that the people here do have a true passion for what they are doing and will be kind to your kiddos. My number one job it to make sure my kids are safe, happy and kind to others and I would never take them to a place that I didn’t feel they would thrive. I’m excited to watch their confidence grow while having a great time as the weeks progress.

We have had a great experience over the years at Madtown Twisters and highly recommend it for your family! My daughter has been in the competitive program for almost 5 years and coaches Olivia, Maggie, Sarah and Ian are wonderful and supportive. Our youngest takes rec classes with Jo who is amazing with the kids, always making sure they are being safe while having fun! A terrific gym for all levels 🤸⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Our family has had a wonderful experience at Madtown over the past 6 years! We have had two younger children in tots and rec classes and can’t say enough positive things about Jo, Emily and the rec team! Our daughter started in rec and has been on the competitive team for 4 years now and we absolutely love the coaches and the program. Highly recommended!

Our twins, especially one of our sons, loves gymnastics and finds it very regulating. We are so thankful for Jo opening the gym to our kids and for the care, kindness, and authenticity with which she approaches creating an environment where they can regulate and learn.

Don’t like this place at all only 2 visits and they act like a parent can’t step in to assist their child. Never met the higher up staff so they know nothing about my child disability or anything they just assume the child is misbehaving…

Madtown Twisters was very accommodating when we had to reschedule our 5 year old’s birthday party when he tested positive for COVID the day before the party. We were able to get it rescheduled quickly and he and his friends had a great time.

We started taking our son there who is 4 years old and Coach Jo did and continues to do an amazing job with him. In other activities, he can lose interest pretty quickly, but Coach Jo keeps him engaged and I can really tell that it has helped his confidence overall. He always looks forward to going to class and seeing his coach. Highly recommended!

We love Madtown Twisters! It’s such a great atmosphere where our kids have been encouraged to learn and grow not just as gymnasts but as humans. Ms. Jo and the other coaches have always been such a support to our kids and worked collaboratively and compassionately. We have found Madtown twisters to be a wonderful place to introduce our kids to gymnastics!

My family loves Coach Jo. My son is special needs and she has lovingly supported him through 6+ months of gymnastics in a regular class. He has difficulty with executive functioning and large motor movements, and she has been patient and accommodating. Gymnastics is the only extracurricular activity my son enjoys in large part because of Coach Jo. Her personality can be a bit gruff by American standards, which I personally like, but she’s always positive, and her enthusiasm comes through with all the pictures she sends of my son in class and all the get well notes when he’s sick.

We have had a great experience with the staff at Madtown Twisters. My 4 year old struggled with separation during classes and Jo was so patient and understanding with her. She worked, probably much harder than she needed, to make her feel comfortable in class and provided different accommodations to help her have a great experience. Jo also spent time with me working to find the right solution for her and our family. In the end we decided to take a break for a bit. We have recently started classes up again and Jo has once again been great. She worked to find a class that would work for our schedule and be the right fit for our daughter. Overall, we have had a great experience here and it is wonderful watching the kids grow their skills while having fun. You can tell that everyone who works there is passionate about gymnastics and making sure everyone is safe and well cared for.

My daughter has been going to Madtown Twisters for over two years now. We have had a wonderful experience.Jo Is amazing! I so appreciate the importance she places on positive body image. Mr. Steve is my daughter’s coach and she couldn’t love him more. Everyone is patient kind and supportive. I can drop her off and know that she will get in and find her way to class surrounded by people that are helpful and kind. My daughter loves going there and I find it a very positive environment.

I have had children at Madtown Twisters for a total of about 3 years and have been really happy with them. Ms Jo, in particular, does a great job with my daughter who has a mild physical impairment - she encourages her to safely push her boundaries, and customizes the experience to support her appropriately. We are looking forward to a continued relationship with them!

I’ve had a 20 plus year relationship with Madtown Twisters, first as a student and now as a parent of two small kids who attend classes. I cannot say enough great things about the gym, both from a personal and parental standpoint. My family is especially fond of Ms. Jo. She is great with small children and is able to effectively hold their attention. I appreciate her ability to lead a safe class while also providing a fun learning environment. While I have enjoyed watching my girls coordination and gymnastics skills improve I would be remiss not to mention how Ms. Jo has fostered better listening skills and helped improve their ability to follow directions. I cannot say enough good things about our experience. If you’re looking for a great gym look no further.

Jo should not be around little kids. She was substituting and kicked our 6 yr old out of class 15 minutes after it started. He had had 4 successful classes previously, so who’s the problem, the child or the substitute teacher? His infractions were so minor, nothing even remotely dangerous to himself or others. She barked out commands, effusively praised the kids that understood her directions the first time, never took the time to explain or encourage our little guy, first ignored, then chided him, then cruelly booted him. One minute he’s bouncing happily, the next she’s blocking him from entering the room and he’s crying. Another parent who observed this was so horrified that he loudly reported to the person at the front desk that he had heard Jo been similarly verbally inappropriate to little kids on a previous occasion. He then pulled his daughter out of the class and since then from the program. So have we.

Jo helped run a special needs class and made jokes at the expense of the kids. Example: "A group of autistic kids? Isn't that an oxymoron?" She also asked invasive and rude questions. They often had some sort of open pit in the back uncovered without any barrier so one of these special needs kids could have fallen in.

My 3 yo child was injured by a coach. The coach did not acknowledge my child was hurt even through her elbow was dislocated. Sent my 3 yo child with a dislocation out of class and down a flight of stairs alone. The coach never told us was happened. Our child was crying and couldn’t use her arm. Thank goodness another parent who saw the incident told my husband what happened and he should have her seen. Took her to the ER where they reduced her dislocation. We made numerous attempts to contact Madtown to speak with anyone. No one would return our calls or emails. They are terrible people who lack compassion and do not care about the safety of the children.
