The amount of confidence both of my daughters have gained through dancing at Misty’s is incredible. It’s something you can’t really understand until you see it for yourself. If I could give 10 stars I would, Misty’s has been the best dance studio for my girls. We have been dancing here for 3 years (this summer) & I have ZERO complaints. The studio is always so clean, teachers are engaged and professional, dances are age appropriate & fun. My girls love Misty's! As a parent, I've always been impressed with the professionalism from every teacher. But I've been even more impressed with the care for the kids! Front desk, cleaning staff, office staff, teachers, helper teachers, and management all show love and care for each and every dancer! I also appreciate that they care what these girls are wearing and how they are dancing on stage. It will always be professional and up to high standards. I just want to give a shout out to all of the teachers, staff and Misty W. Lown. During the first awards at a recent dance competition one of the judges gave MDU an award for "everything" which he explained as the visible joy and passion that our dancers have when they perform/compete. It was such a true statement, there were many greater dancers and competitors but so many dances from other studios seemed like work, whereas our dancers shine with joy when they dance, their passion and love of dance along with their confidence in their craft is visible and sets MDU apart. I was still thinking about his comments a few days later and just wanted to take a moment to thank all the amazing MDU teachers and staff that make dance a truly joyful thing for our dancers and highly recommend Misty’s for anyone looking for a dance family!

I am sure that Julia would like to highlight and thank other instructors as well, but for me, Miss Larissa stands out. She has been the constant since Day 1, when we had absolutely no plans to spend the next several years driving back and forth to La Crosse several times a week, but Julia just wanted to try to audition for Alice in Wonderland. Her first role was a tree… But after the very first rehearsal she wanted to dance here, and have Miss Larissa as her teacher. She had never before wanted a strict teacher, but in Miss Larissa she found what she wanted and needed. It’s been five years (I think), and Julia is graduating with skills and confidence I don’t think she could have found anywhere else. I am sure Larissa will forever remain as one of the most influential people in her life.

We've been going to Misty's for years now, and they've never let us down. Even here amidst the COVID-19 situation, they have managed to keep everything running.
Groups and people in close proximity a problem? Take your classes as a group online and turn your home into a private studio. Had to cancel recital? Ok. We'll just hold an event, complete with red carpet treatment (and all health & safety precautions taken), to make our kids feel like rockstars. Feeling lonely having to stay at home? Well, we'll just arrange for everyone to have extra time online with our loveable Miss Sandy every week. Feeling stressed? Have a free yoga class in your living to calm yourself.

During recital shows this weekend Misty W. Lown talked about the importance of “third places”- (she shared the attached article) spaces created to foster well-being of our communities, including our children; a place in addition to their home and school that children are safe, cared for, and are able to grow. Our daughter spends several days a week at Misty’s Dance Unlimited. In this “third place” our young woman is nurtured and challenged as a dancer, a student, a leader and a friend. She looks forward to going to the studio each day, skipping in with a smile on her face- she feels valued for who she is. Mistys is great! The staff is amazing, my daughter looks forward to going, and always comes out in a great mood! My only issue with this place is that I pay monthly, obviously, for my child to dance there and YOU have to buy an admissions ticket to watch your child's dance/ progress that you have already paid for them to teach your child! I have never heard of a dance studio doing this and I honestly think it's pretty ridiculous. I pay quite a bit of money as it is for my 3 year old to dance there now you want me to pay to watch her? That's not ok with me. I understand other family memebers having to pay bit as a parent I already pay the tuition, they said it goes toward the older kids competitions, but there are other ways to get that money for those kids.

When our oldest daughter turned 3 (she is now 19), we excitedly signed her up for dance class at our local Onalaska dance studio. That initial dance class sparked an interest, and that local studio (Misty's Dance Unlimited) became a second home for both of our daughters.
