I was excited to try out a free trial class. However, the day of my scheduled trial class was the day after a horrible storm ripped through west Madison causing serious damage including trees snapped onto roadways and falling on houses. My neighborhood was without power, and it was uncertain when power would be restored since MG&E said this was the worst power outage in its history. I called OTF early that morning explaining my situation and asked if I could call them back to reschedule my class after regaining electricity and assessing storm damage. OTF said I had until the end of the day or I would incur the $28 cancellation fee for the trial class, which I did not know about.
When I talked to OTF to originally schedule the trial class, I asked why they needed my credit card, and the employee said itβs just how their computer system works. She never mentioned the $28 cancellation fee if not given 8 hours notice. I was told this policy was noted in one of the reminder emails sent in the fine print.
While I fully understand and respect that there are fees for canceling, I was shocked and disappointed that OTF was not forthcoming about the cancellation policy for free, trial classes and that they could not extend the 8 hour notice for such an extenuating circumstance such as a natural disaster.
I ended up getting the $28 fee refunded because I happened to text the class instructor the evening prior during the tornado warning saying trees were down on the roads, and my house lost power saying I was unsure if I could make it class at 6:30 am. It was only because of proof of this text and the fact that it fell within 8 hours of the class that OTF would refund my $28.
I realize I could have just rescheduled the free trial class weeks out without penalty but chose not to because they were not forthcoming about their policy and inflexible despite extenuating circumstances.

I appreciate the extra opportunity to reach out to management again about my experience. I have already spoken to two managers throughout this process. The last one I talked to said she had to follow the OTF cancellation policy. Several days after posting this Google review, one of the managers reached out via voicemail offering free elite membership for a month. I respectfully decline.

I like that I work my whole body harder than I could ever on my own. You also play bumping music that motivates and the group dynamic keeps you going! Two things keep me from giving five stars: the cost per class is a little high and it can be hard to follow along sometimes, even after I have been multiple times now.

I love all of the coaches and front desk staff! They are always so positive and encouraging. I definitely would not do most of this workout on my own! I love when the call out individuals for either increasing speed, improving form, or getting to orange.. it really helps. I also really appreciate a challenge and have done things I have always told myself I couldn't. This is my third OTF club (after moving to a different city) and I am very happy and impressed with OTF West!

Great Staff, I loved OTF.... However the business practices are predatory. They unfroze all memberships that were frozen because of COVID (any other reasons?) in December and failed to notify their members. And any business practice that requires does not allow customers to cancel immediately over the phone or over email is a predatory practice to take more money from you.
Edit: OTF made it right but it still shouldn't have happened in the first place and shouldn't have required talking to the owner to resolve, so I cannot give 5 stars

I love the variety of workouts! Every day is something different from the last, and the workouts always challenge different muscles or test your strength and endurance in a new way. The coaches have all been great at explaining workouts and the benefits, as well as keeping everybody motivated and positive throughout class. I like the structure and variability in the workouts. I love that we do floor exercises that I wouldnβt even think of doing myself, and each class has different workouts so I can go multiple days in a row and do different things. I also like how each class is set up differently when it comes to the structure (i.e. strength vs endurance days), and amount of time spent on the treadmill, rower, and floor. Having base paces, pushes, and all outs keep a ~30 min tread block from getting boring and actually makes it feel like it flies by. I also appreciate how each coach has their own style of coaching and leading the class, but all are encouraging to both push ourselves and trust ourselves when we need to take it easier. This is the longest Iβve been able to stick to a workout routine - definitely worth the membership!

I get a better workout in an OrangeTheory class than I'd ever get by just going to the gym on my own. It's more fun and I get a better workout. The instructors have all been great, the equipment is good, the variety of workouts is nice, the place is clean and the music is good. I don't have any regrets or hesitations about joining and attending each week.

It really feels like all the coaches and staff care about you and your goals. I'm impressed with the way they handled COVID and have felt safe returning to working out in their limited-capacity classes with a mask. I have workout equipment at home, but I never get quite as good a workout as I do when I'm in studio being coached live -- I'm a little bit addicted, but the classes are almost like therapy for me at this point. I've been to a lot of different OTF studios around the US and Madison West is definitely my favorite; glad it's my home studio!

I love the coaches and that they encourage you as you go. I love the intervals on the treadmill (I hate just running for an extended amount of time) and I love that each workout is different! Keeps it interesting. Also the staff are so friendly at Madison-West. They always say "hi" when we come in and "see you next week" when we leave.

I am someone who has always hated working out. Because of this (and the fact that I was very out of shape), I was very nervous to try OrangeTheory. I was worried that I would hate it, or worse, not even have the ability to get through my first class with my fitness level. I was VERY wrong! After my first class I decided to sign up for an unlimited membership. The workouts are tough, but the instructors walk you through modifications to make it easier/harder if need be. All of the staff are amazing, and treat everyone as people instead of just an enrollment number. I have tried other locations outside of the Madison area and no one compares to this location. I can't speak highly enough about them. If you are scared like I was to try this place out, just do it! You won't regret it!

Their method of breaking up the workout between different βblocksβ of running, rowing, and floor exercises has been refreshing and motivating. High energy coaches work you through an intense hour of challenging exercise. Never a dull moment or boring workouts on repeat! I cut a full 10 minutes from my 10K PR just from six months of classes at OTF. This place made a huge difference in getting me off the couch and into the gym by taking the guesswork and motivation out of fitness. My home studio in Charlottesville, VA is the BEST (ok, maybe my opinion is a little biased), so when I was traveling for work and wanting to hit up an OTF class, I was a little nervous that the experience I was going to have would fall short of what I normally experience. I was pleasantly surprised with the Madison West OTF crew! The same camaraderie, high energy playlists, attentive coaching and supportive encouragement was all there! That is what makes OTF such a great choice as a fitness home. My main personal fitness goal is to lose a large amount of weight, and in that, some major mental and emotional obstacles have popped up. I've successfully overcome these 100% due to the coaching staff's encouragement and direction, and the studio's fun and positive vibe atmosphere. That's why I keep going back. It's great to see a similar culture as a guest at other studios. Keep doing the thing!

I really enjoyed my first class. It challenged so many of my muscles that normally wouldn't get touched during a typical workout. I typically only run on the treadmill and this class had my arms and legs working so hard that they are still sore 2 days later. I personally love leaving a workout feeling sore because that tells me it was a workout worthwhile. I love that I was able to see how hard I was working by watching the orange zone and also how I was able to see the calories I burned. The trainer, Adrian was patient and personable and did a good job explaining the exercises and coaching me along the way so that my workout would be the most effective. I left Orange Theory with a great first timer experience and I plan to buy a membership to continue going so that I can achieve my results!
