Brandon is amazing! He set me up with a series of tests, including a VO2 MAX test, to measure how many calories I naturally burn and to gather other valuable insights—like what my body is primarily fueled by and what that means for my overall health. He provided a wealth of data to ensure I’m on the right path, and then tied it all together with DNA testing to see what my genetics respond to best so I can maintain optimal performance for both work and play.
As a business owner and parent, I know the chaos and stress that comes with balancing it all, so my goal with this process is to dial in my nutrition and exercise for peak performance—just like any athlete would. The only difference is I’m looking to sharpen my brainpower instead of my 40-yard dash. 🧠🏃♂️😂

First off…5 stars. I am a runner, but only do short distances. I compete at the world level as a Master’s athlete, but rarely run more than 400 meters at a time. Knowing this, I was fearful of how I would get through the VO2 max test. We started RMR test which was very easy. You just lay down and relax while it measures how many calories you burn at rest. Then we did the VO2 max test. I’m not going to lie, it was tough. I’m very glad I did it though. The results test gave me valuable insight into my fitness. Also, Brandon didn’t just hand me a number—he created a personalized workout plan and an easy-to-follow action checklist so I know exactly how to train smarter. Highly recommend for anyone serious about improving performance!

The VO2 max assessment is amazing! It really gives you much needed insight into what your body needs. With the information from the assessment I learned what the proper foods and exercises i need to eat/do to take my health to next step. I have also worked with Brandon how to correctly fuel my body. I like how he does not just tell you what to eat. He took the extra step and taught me why protein is so good for my body, etc. Overall Brandon is an amazing person and I highly recommend!

Just had my resting metabolic rate and my max VO2 for aerobic conditioning tested with Brandon La Rue at Physiology First La Crosse! What a great experience and wonderful health assessment with tons of helpful information! From brain, lungs, heart, and mitochondrial function and fat burning efficiency to exercise, nutrition, and lifestyle ideas. The MaxVO2 test was simple and easier than ever before as I’ve done them in a labs and Brandon’s was by far a better experience. Those tests showed I was 10 years younger than my chronological age, and my tests were encouraging to know that my personal fitness can still be improved with exact physiological data. All the data from ventilation efficiency, breathing coordination, high intensity performance, oxygen circulation, metabolic rate, fat burning efficiency with exercise, movement economy, and recovery capacity all have healthy ranges and recommendations for improvement while giving a range of outcomes for my tests. This will serve as a my baseline for my continued fitness and nutrition plan.
