I've been a member for over 25 years and my wife has been a member for over 20 years. We both enjoy Pinnacle greatly. The equipment is clean and well maintained and equipment availability is very good. I especially like the pools, the sauna, the steam room, and the whirlpool. The staff has always been kind to us.

Poor management, toxic culture, unsafe practices, outdated machines and mindset. My 19 y/o daughter had an uncomfortable and worrisome experience that was reported. A man (60+ years old) followed her into the pool area and watched her swim and then followed her into the sauna, after hours when no gym staff were in the building and no other members were in the area. The owner agreed to look into it but then proceeded to extensively question me and her about the situation for 20+ minutes each, including asking what my daughter was wearing. He encouraged her to end her membership since she felt unsafe and he never even talked to the male member!! He made excuses for the man's behavior and never even questioned him or, at a minimum, let the man know how his inappropriate behavior impacted a young woman.

AVOID THIS GYM.

After reporting two serious incidents involving my wife and our daughter, the management's response—particularly from Michael McMahon, Pinnacle’s President—was dismissive, unprofessional, and at times condescending.

Michael suggested our daughter cancel her membership, effectively placing the burden on us rather than addressing the behavior. He did speak with one of the men involved—someone who had already been reported by women on two prior occasions—yet that member remains at the gym. In a separate incident, a different male member appeared to follow our daughter from the hot tub to the pool and then into the sauna, alone after 9 PM. Despite the seriousness of this, Michael chose not to speak with that member, calling the behavior “normal.”

He also insisted on a one-on-one phone call with our daughter, during which he challenged her account like a prosecuting attorney. Our daughter, who is otherwise confident and well-adjusted, felt significantly worse after that call.

The situation deteriorated further when we cancelled our family membership and requested a refund. We were told a check was mailed June 9, but it didn't arrive. Over nearly 3 weeks, multiple follow-ups were met with shifting explanations, contradictions, and even patronizing remarks (see images). Only after escalating to multiple staff members did Michael agree to leave a replacement check at the front desk—conveniently timed to align exactly with their rigid 21-day refund policy. The original check which was mailed June 9th ended up arriving July 14th - we live 10 minutes away from Pinnacle.

The behavior of the two male members was troubling enough, but it was Michael’s mishandling of the situation that ultimately led us to cancel our membership. If you value respectful treatment, accountability, and a safe environment, AVOID THIS GYM.

Good gym to workout at if you are a grown man. lots of old folks staring at young women and uncomfortable atmosphere. Never truly felt comfortable going with my sister or mom because they would get stared at by creeps. If you are looking too have off putting conversations with nude grown men in the locker room, look no further.

Awful management, mislead on how much group membership prices were, mislead on how to add someone to a group family plan, I canceled my membership out of such disappointment and dissatisfaction. Then a month later I get charged again bc they couldn’t even cancel the membership correctly. I don’t have the energy to dive into every problem I’ve had with this place. This gym is not worth the trouble. I’ve done some reading on the poor reviews of this place and they’re all correct and I’ve seen that the owner will reply to negative posts by posting the amount of times a client has gone to the gym to dispute their negative review? That’s vastly inappropriate well as personal information and if the representative of the gym cares to reply (and if not seeking that, not worth my time anymore) but the gym does not have my consent to post how much I attended the gym as an argument against my truthful negative review. That’s personal information. Again, this gyms management is as poor as it comes, the constant miscommunication is draining and unprofessional; this is my first and only Google review bc I have been so moved by my anger and frustration with this place. I hope to save a few of you from the stress and time. Get a pass to anytime fitness, and don’t bother looking into this place.

The training staff is pretty rude towards me. Otherwise, the low crowds and equipment upkeep is nice. Could use new TVs above the cardio, I'm not sure why the TVs are so old. Toxic/rude lunky training staff here. Odd gym.

You get what you pay for. However, the management style to create a nice place to exercise failed to offer pleasant experience. The place is outdated. Many times and often amenities are out of order: steam room, hot tubs, drinking fountains, tanning bed (for over a year now), bathrooms are half functions and list goes on. You can’t blame all of that on short supplies. Supplies are plenty and available.

The options can be appreciate though despite bad management: outdoor seasonal swim pool, indoor full size swimming pool and warm pool, hot tub, sauna and swarm room, showers, lockers. Smoothies, protein bars are offered and quite tasty.

Has everything I want in a gym. Meets my requirements for equipment, cleanliness, and business. Sure, I wish I paid less, but I was specifically looking for a sauna when deciding. Both locations have a sauna but the Fitchburg one is larger and very nice. Additionally, both indoor and outdoor pools are very nice.

I don't believe that towel service should cost extra, so I bring my own. I have never taken any classes at either location (I'm sure they are good, just not interested).

Outdoor pool was nice, the gym equipment is great and the area isn’t very crowded. My beefs are with the locker room, indoor pool, and whirlpool areas. Just not very clean. Rusted locker door handles, a air intake vent caked in dust in the locker room, and the indoor pool looks like it needs a hefty dose of bleach. Compared to others in the area though, I’d definitely go with this however.

Pinnacle has a nice pool, but I don't recommend them becuase their membership process is at best antiquated and at worst predatory. For example, I tried to cancel my membership and they said, "you can't until the early exit date in the cancellation clause." So I responded, "alright, well do that then." But they still wouldn't do it! Instead they told me to "call back on that date". Pretty amazing.

Be preparred for locking contracts, phone tag, hassel and hidden fees.

I love Zumba at Pinnacle, and it's such a cozy gym overall. The hot tub is great too.
However, this gym is poorly managed and there is little flexibility post-COVID. It's such a hassle to come in for a class rather than buying a whole membership. They are extremely restrictive even when they do have class passes available. If it weren't for my favorite instructor working here, I would no longer do business with Pinnacle.

This is the safest building to be in since the new HVAC installation. Plus salt water with ozone in swimming pools, is cleaner than most homes. In summary, Pinnacle helped me get through Covid. My wife and I have been members a few years. When Covid hit we felt uncomfortable going. Our contract basically covered the 12 months of the pandemic so far. I called to inquire about reduction in rate or is there anything they can offer. There was nothing they could do. We have not signed up for another year and will look elsewhere.

I have been a member since May 2019. I used to rave about Pinnacle. However, I am very disappointed with how they have handled the pandemic and can no longer recommend this business.

Each time I visit, there are members without masks and not sanitizing equipment after the usage. There have been positive cases from the gym, including fitness instructors and members.

When I bring up concerns to the manager, he gets defensive and mentions they have done enough communication to get this out and downplays my concerns. Rather than coming up with solutions for me with my personal concerns, he suggests I go to the front desk, which is rarely staffed when I am visiting on various days and times. It is not a member's responsibility to go chasing staff or have to worry about contracting covid from visiting a gym.

If you are concerned about covid and seeking a gym that takes it seriously, look elsewhere!

I have been a charter member of Pinnacle fitness for some fifteen years. I don’t even know my starting date, but it was well before the indoor swimming pool was built. At that time, Pinnacle offered members a choice to upgrade your membership to a charter membership for x amount of money, and your dues would be locked in for life. In my case the dues are $39.00 per month. For my 15 plus or minus years of membership I have religiously been going to Pinnacle M-F from 2:00-3:00pm. I was heartbroken to hear that Pinnacle has restricted that time slot to a cleaning only - no members allowed due to the pandemic. I renewed my two year membership January 2020 and never would have had I known Pinnacle would close every week day from 2-3p. I have had numerous conversations with Pinnacle about this situation. Pinnacle did freeze my my membership for three months from June to August, but only for three months, not for the duration of the blocked time period I have used for fifteen years! The proof is members have a scan card we scan that log your visit. After contacting Pinnacle on 7-28-20 to ensure that the same cleaning schedule of 2-3 M-F was continuing, Pinnacle assured me that it was. I then told Pinnacle that I wanted to buy out of the contract but was told I could not because of a clause that a member can only buy out after they complete half of the contract term. Beware new member seekers of this contract and ask for a pandemic clause addendum because the Pinnacle contract protects Pinnacle and Pinnacle only! I am not a friend of Pinnacle anymore and would be much happier if Pinnacle would freeze my membership until the M-F cleaning that is done between the 2-3p hour is lifted, or I can buy myself out of the contract.

We have enjoyed Pinnacle over a number of years. The friendly, comfortable atmosphere welcomes you at the door; the cleanliness of the entire facility gives it a nice feel; the lap pool is one of my favorite places to finish my exercise routine, and the warm water pool option is fantastic when dealing with an injury or limitation—sometimes just a great place to do gentle exercise while visiting with a friend; and finally, the whirl pool, sauna, or steam room are a welcome reward at the end of the work out.

Pinnacle is a great gym. Both locations are wonderful, offering slightly different vibes. As someone with chronic pain, living in a cold place like Wisconsin is hard for me. Having access to the excellent spa and water therapy facilities ( sauna, hot tub, steam room, pools) of Pinnacle makes winter liveable. Always clean and well maintained, and the staff is generally very friendly and helpful, especially the people who've been there a while and the full time staff. It's never too crowded, though it does get really busy at certain times, but even then there are always machines available. I haven't done any classes or worked with any trainers but my husband has, and all of his experiences have been positive. It's definitely worth paying for the quality you get at Pinnacle.

Kudos to Heidi Meyer-Spidell for creating an amazing aquatics program and, besides being personally inspiring, always seeking to recruit a strong coaching staff. I have been in the Pinnacle masters swim program for over a year, and Kimberly Goodell's coaching helped me recapture of love of swimming, as well as improving my technique.

When Kimberly moved to California, she left some huge shoes to fill as coach. Karl Barton brought his own inimitable style to the class, while maintaining the qualities of motivating and challenging each individual to achieve a great training workout. I looked forward to every class--even at the ungodly hour of 6 am.

I also used Karl for private swim lessons and personal training. Besides his extensive knowledge of swim and workout techniques and skill in teaching them--which are considerable--the level of his enthusiasm alone could keep a stone afloat. After Karl left, the swim program suffered somewhat, IMO, but they have continued to keep it afloat. There seems to be a high turnover in swim coaches, and the quality could be uneven, which is why I ultimately left Pinnacle.

The atmosphere at Pinnacle is friendly and supportive, and it has a strong sense of community.

Love that we have a warm water pool at a local gym in Fitchburg and that classes are offered daily. Despite the age of the facility, it is well maintained and provides excellent customer service. I cannot give 5 stars, though, because the facility has a Blue Handicapped sticker on the door - yet the handicapped entry/exit buttons do not work so entrance into the facility if you use a walker is difficult. Either the sticker needs to be removed or the button needs to be repaired. Also, the second entry door needs a button - otherwise you are stuck between the two doors with no assistance. I challenge the managers to try to get in and out of the facility with a walker and no assistance.

I have been a member of this club for over 10 years. It is consistently outstanding in every respect.

I'm picky, sometimes hard to please. And this club always exceeds my expectations. . The employees are professional and very friendly. The club is spotless. There are abundant machines etc, really good classes taught by good people. I cannot think of a single negative.

One of the best things about the club is the clientele. Most of the people who work-out there are between late twenties and early sixties. A really nice mix of people that creates a pleasant environment.
