So now I have to pay extra to use the equipment upstairs?? 🤔🤦🏻♂
Shouldn't it already be on the monthly payment? Or should the same equipment be placed in all areas? People barely use this room, so why don't you open the area at night?
The contract says we have access to all equipment.

I wish they gave guest passes that were like real guest passes to work out w friends and not guest passes that can only be redeemed when the salesman were there and try to seek membership to your guest

Princeton Club Fitchburg is a very comfortable place to push yourself physically and learn how to! I'm a regular and you come to know faces. After being away from the gym for a while after having my baby, several people noticed when I came back and made sure to say hi! It was incredibly comforting to feel seen. That's just how friendly the employees and patrons are! Facilities are well cared for and organized pretty well. The ladies in the kids club are so welcoming and make friendships with the kids. This is a great place to have a gym membership!

Terrible Customer Service
Tried joining the gym and signing up for a personal trainer — no one ever called back despite multiple promises. Reached out several times with no follow-up. Staff seemed uninterested and unhelpful. If this is how they treat potential members, I want no part of it.

I have been to many gyms in the Madison area, and I can say confidently that Princeton club is the happiest to ignore their members and continue to take their money! After my wife and I were rudely attacked for breaking a “rule” that wasn’t posted (deadlifting off the ground(???)), I followed up about cancelling my membership, since I was asked to leave. Instead of listening to me or trying to find common ground, I was ignored in my request to cancel and again criticized for breaking a non-existent rule. My final response was ignored, and when I blocked them from taking future payments, they underhandedly went to VISA to obtain my payment information. I have since been fraudulently charged over $400! When you sign up for a gym, you want the staff to be aligned in their mission to support your fitness goals and journey. The folks at princeton club are much happier greedily taking your money without your permission. They don’t care about you or your health, just their bottom line. I would give zero stars if I could. A perfect alternative in the area would be Crunch- low rates, some without a contract at all, friendly staff, and all the best equipment. If you value yourself, your time, and your hard-earned money, avoid Princeton club at all costs!

Darnell does an incredible job keeping Princeton Club Express McFarland running smoothly. The gym is always clean, organized, and welcoming. He creates a friendly atmosphere and goes above and beyond to ensure members’ needs are met.
His responsiveness and professionalism stand out, as does his effort to continuously improve the gym based on feedback. Whether it’s maintaining equipment, resolving issues quickly, or providing support, Darnell is truly committed to the members’ experience.
I highly recommend Princeton Club Express under Darnell’s management—it’s a fantastic place for anyone to achieve their fitness goals.

Mind blowingly bad experience working with this club on my membership. They told me one thing before I signed up and then after paying for a $1200 family membership, 2 weeks later they told me something completely different. Avoid this gym. I would never give them another dollar and I’m seeking a cancellation of my membership in a dispute with my credit card. They are unethical people. Extremely disturbing.

I’ve been going to this gym with my partner for almost a year and we love it. It has pretty much everything we need to be able to train. The staff is mostly friendly, especially, Monica is always friendly and eager to help! Derek is a great PT I can recommend him as well.
The gym is clean and it seems like it’s taken care of. We love the classes like yoga, or cycling but work makes it difficult to schedule a class sometimes. Open 24/7 which is also a big “+”.

I'm so sad to leave the Fitchburg Princeton Club after about 10 years with them. It's time to renew but their policy has changed so that in order to renew I'm required to have a payment method online with them. In the past I have always paid for 1 full year and with a check. For those of you who have had your identity stolen, you will sympathize and understand why I do not put that info online anywhere. I explained that and said that I can come in and pay, but Lamar (membership services) said i must do monthly online billing. That's the only way. His words were, "If you don't want to do it that way then you probably don't want to renew your membership." He said there's no other way.
So it is. Princeton Club would rather lose a customer who is williing to pay annually and risk bad publicity than accommodate
a guaranteed payment method. Sorry to see you go Princeton Club. I'll train for the Chicago marathon elsewhere.

The gym is fine however the staff, especially the females (One in particular who seems to be the ringleader) are just the most unfriendly, cold and judgemental people I've seen in the gym. I don't pay 600 dollars a year to feel like I dknt belong as soon as I walk in the door. Unfortunately I think the ringleader is also the manager and she seems like she also treats the minority employees like dirt. I vet strong racist vibes from her like she's better than then. Additionally the management clearly doesn't care about men. There's like 4 rooms I've never even been in all marked woman only. I've never seen anyone clean the men's locker room and it stays filthy. Sadly since covid the pride in ownership has clearly deteriorated to virtually non existent. There doesn't seem to be any accountability fir the employees either.

I switched from west to Fitchburg because of pool having wider lanes, deeper water & more salt w/ less chlorine. Everyone very friendly about sharing lanes during busy times. The locker room is borderline Disgusting… I don’t think I’ve ever seen it being cleaned. Above the lockers is literally inches of dust on the wall. Your “premium” kleenexes, which I don’t think I could get any thinner are never available.

It's taken me years to start going to the gym regularly but princeton club has helped me achieve my fitness goals. The gym has a wide variety of machines, weights, and classes to choose from. I love their total body, core, and dance classes and they are adding a bar class in the next few months. My trainer Alex Grahn has been really encouraging and helpful all throughout my fitness journey. I highly recommend him if you need an accountability partner to help you stay consistent with the gym or if you want someone knowledgeable there to help you get the most out of your workout. I'm very grateful for the experiences I've had here so far‐ thank you Alex and Princeton Club!

Hello. I felt the service at this Princeton Club ™️ location could use some improvement. I called to inquire about the details involving your landscaping outsourcing, and I received little knowledge to this effect. I have added an additional star because I understand that I called after normal business hours. That being said, I feel that all staff, ALL STAFF, should be aware of pertinent details like this in case of unique scenarios like the one I’ve described presently. Although this predicament has not impacted my patronage at the Princeton Club ™️ franchise, I have SOME hesitation with further inquiries regarding facility management. My qualms involve the concern that tacit information, such as this, should be commonplace among all Princeton Club ™️ team members. Thank you for your time, Katie.

I have been a member since 2014. The management, the trainers, and desk service personnel are all competent, friendly, helpful, and professional. I had a personal trainer, Kyle, who gave me a solid and rigorous plan that I can still work on now, without the need for more training. Again, he was knowledgeable, competent, friendly, and professional. The owner gave me a lifetime monthly fee of merely a few dollars when the Fitchburg Express closed. Unfortunately, I am moving out of state and will not be able to keep that little gem. The gym is clean, interactive, and accessible . Yet, you can seclude yourself and be as introverted as you like. There is a reason it is ranked #1.

Smith machines are a hot commodity in all locations and here they're occupied most of the time. The one upstairs in this location is catching now, don't know if it's old or just need lubricating. Most gym goers here don't clean after themselves or have mask on (mask mandate doesn't change people's behavior). If you're at risk or live with someone who is, you've been warned.
Source: Google

Once again: what does mask requiered means to Princeton club? 50% of the people are not wearing a mask!!! Why are you allowing your members to be exposed to people not following the rules? I know about waivers and all that, I know you are not re-enforcing it.

Front desk staff is top notch, greeting everyone both on the way in and out.
However, the free weights section equipment is neglected in favor of new classroom flooring, stationary bikes, and other equipment to market to inactive members. To start, they need to replace all of the non-adjustable flat benches with adjustable ones and add variety to the cable machines handle attachments. These overdue upgrades to the free weights area would easily upgrades this review to 5 🌟
The employees' customer service keep me coming back to this particular Princeton Club as my primary gym.
I'll often see personal trainers leading by example in working out alongside their clients. That's what makes their personal trainers the best I've seen at any place I've worked out. They really seem to care about individuals' goals.
Edit: the previous business' response reinforced the lack of weight training machine upgrades. Dead lift platforms or benches don't count as weight training machines.
Now, under a new GM, new machines are being promised. Since we've heard that before, many of us are eager to see if this gym brings itself up to speed with its 2021 competitors.

What exactly does "Mask required" mean to you Princeton Club?!? As far as I understand, it means everyone must wear a mask at all times. Then how are the same people without a mask every single day, and not just pulled down or worn incorrectly, just no mask period and no employee ever says anything to those people while walking by them numerous times. IT'S A PANDEMIC!!! And guess what, nobody likes to wear a mask, but we do to protect each other and keep this place open...

Being a personal trainer and fitness enthusiast for over 10 years, I have never been to a more clean, organized, well equipped, and friendly gym in my whole life (and I've been to multiple states). A huge selection of machine exercise equipment, a large free weights area with a powerlifting area, TRX and strong man/CrossFit like equipment, and a wide variety of group fitness classes. Bathrooms are very large and spacious with lockers, a sauna, showers, and seating areas to change. Finally, a large multi lane swimming pool for those that need to get some laps in. It may be a bit on the pricey side, but for the benefits of going to all the locations including their Xpress gyms, it's worth the investment.

The best PC in Madison. Only issue is that it could be cleaner and a lot of locker doors are broken, but it's by far cleaner than the west side. The equipment is less ancient than both east and west.

While not perfect, this gym is pretty much my second home. The staff is extremely friendly and does a great job at keeping the place clean. There's a wide variety of equipment, including multiples of the most popular weight machines and plenty of treadmills. They even have a few Concept 2 rowers! Unfortunately chalk isn't allowed at this location so that's something to watch out for if you like weightlifting. The knurling on a lot of the barbells is pretty worn as well, but they're all definitely workable. Be aware that there aren't deadlift platforms at this location right now - the west location has some if you're looking for that.
It does get pretty busy during weekday evenings, so I'd recommend taking that into account when you're planning your workout.

Very high quality machines - nice pool. Locker rooms could use a remodel but the rest looks very good. Cardio cinema is a great standout feature!

I have belonged to this gym for a few years now and one of the things I enjoyed the most was the availability of the spin bikes for independent use without restriction. It was so nice to be able to bike with a friend or two in a quiet space as we train for races throughout the year. It’s frustrating to know that I pay gym dues that helped to purchase these bikes and my only option is limited to using the old spin bikes that are literally labeled as “bad” quality on the bikes. Management can say what they want about this “policy” to lock the spin rooms, but this policy didn’t exist when it was Gold’s Gym and there never seemed to be any issues with the bikes or the spin room. If they aren’t going to leave the room open at all times like it has always been before then they should consider some sort of a sign in sheet at the desk or “open gym” times that the room is unlocked for for those of us that enjoyed our independent spin exercise. I very much hope that this gets discussed among management because it is disappointing and a deterrent to belonging to this health club.

Free the bikes! The new spin bikes look nice, but you can’t use them unless you can make the 1 or 2 spin classes. I loved utilizing bikes to meet my training needs but unfortunately the spin room is now locked. As a paying gym member I should be able to use the gym equipment. I've asked about the bikes and was told the old spin bikes are available to ride but the 1 available bike upstairs has a note taped to the bike saying it is in “bad” shape. The club never told members these new bikes would be locked and the website states members are able to spin on their own in the studio – which is false advertisement and a broken promise. This club is not going in a direction to satisfy their members.

Joined right as it transitioned from Gold's over to the Princeton club. The main reason I joined was due to the availability of the bike room. It was awesome to be able to go for a long ride whenever I had time in my day, which was different than the other Princeton Club locations. About a year after the transition, they have gotten new bikes and have now locked the room. When I complained directly, I was told that was Princeton Club policy. Then how come it wasn't enforced immediately upon ownership change? Had it been, I never would have gotten a membership there. What is the point of having all of these amazing bikes that are locked up, only to be used during class times that are impossible for anyone with a full-time job to attend. If cycling is a major part of your training or workouts, I advise you to pick a different gym to join.

Lots of changes with new ownership, thought at first they were great but now I kind of wish we had the old version. New bikes were purchased which sounds great but they locked them to only be used during classes - what’s the point of that when I want to use the bikes purchased with fees to go on a long ride on my own terms? It’s also far too packed now. I’ve even tried leaving work at 3 to get a workout in and there’s no way - pool is always full and thousands of meatheads fill the weight room.
On the bright side if you want a gym with new TVs and treadmills that work and are usually available this is your place!

Spacious, with any kind of equipment I need. My husband loves the cardio cinema, and the day care people are absolutely wonderful. Open 24 hours, which means I have a place to run after 2nd shift.
