Most classes here are donation based. We purchased an 8 week course with Luan. He is great!

Riverwest Yogashala is unlike any yoga studio in the city. After trying several yoga studios in Milwaukee, I've been practicing at Riverwest Yogashala for over eight years. Deeply rooted in the Iyengar tradition, it affirms that yoga is for every BODY. The instructors are excellent. Classes are available on a sliding scale, making a strong commitment to making yoga accessible to everyone.

These are the best yoga classes I've had in Milwaukee. Instructors are incredibly knowledgeable and classes are free of judgement. Instructors meet everyone at their level and provide corrections with a focus on safety. Other classes I have been to have forced through yoga flows without much concern to the needs of their students. Here is the complete opposite. I have never felt as if we were being rushed through poses or pressure to get an instructors "ideal routine" down. Several times instructors have pivoted and changed their original plans for the lesson to meet the needs of their students. It was refreshing and this type of environment allows for true growth in yoga.
If you're looking to learn and grow in all aspects of your yoga practice, this is the place for you. It is not "just a workout class."

I've started going to RW Yogashala a few months ago. I've felt so disconnected from my body throughout the pandemic and with my own history of trauma. This space and these classes have genuinely helped me become more present and connected to my own self. I've been able to notice so much more about myself. I've been taking the gentle pace classes with Tracey and she really helps each student get into the pose and learn about the traditions, not just going through the motions. I'm glad I have this space to practice and grow with myself.

When I first tired yoga a decade or so ago I hated it and thought I just “wasn’t a yoga person” - not flexible and don’t have a strong enough core. We moved to Riverwest in June and I decided to give yoga another try by taking a gentle yoga class with Tracey at Riverwest Yogashala. That was hands down one of the best decisions ever!
The yogashala is community based and dedicated to helping every person with every type of body enjoy practicing yoga. I now try to take classes with Tracey a couple times a week and am in love with how my body feels during and after a yoga class. Do something kind for yourself and sign up for a class.

This place is excellent. Whether its Jess or Sarah or Tracey (there may be more instructors but ive taken classes from these 3) the classes are always great. In the upstairs of a classic eastside/riverwest duplex, the feel is very relaxing and welcoming. From there, the prices are very reasonable. Not only are mats and a plethora of props available, but also the class sizes are usually smaller which allows for a personalized experience. The Iyengar method does an amazing job tailoring to all body shapes and sizes. Whether this is your first time doing yoga or 1,000th, riverwest yogashala has a place for you.

Great vibe, excellent teachers. I go to both Jess’s and Sarah’s classes fairly regularly, have been for about two years. Jess is consistent and calm. She holds poses for a longer amount of time, making for a great shavasana. Sarah is super creative - she’s always mixing it up, finding new ways to explain poses. She’s a great educator, I’ve learned a ton from her class. I’ve only gotten to take one workshop with Tracey, but really enjoyed how upbeat and playful she was. Iyengar has a more stringent certification process than other types of yoga, so you can expect knowledgeable teachers and a focus on alignment and injury prevention. And the space is adorable.
