I absolutely love the option of the all the amenities the club has to offer. The employees are helpful, courteous and caring, but for the price of family membership, plus membership+, I would hope for cleaner locker rooms, showers, gym, etc. I am sure having the 24/7 option makes it hard to keep the gym clean all the time, but you would hope for the majority of the time.

I really enjoy all the benefits the Alaska Club has to offer. We have the membership plus for free for the first 2 months. I have taken advantage of utilizing these extra benefits but if I were paying for these extra services I would expect for them to be cleaned frequently. Every time I have used the tanning bed and red light therapy the floors are very dirty.

I am very impressed with the Alaska Club! I signed up at the Fairbanks location after moving to Alaska, and Emily with member services still helped me when I permanently moved to Wasilla the following week. Emily went out of her way to help me get set up with everything I needed at the Wasilla location. I’m so grateful for her help, because I now hit the Alaska Club in Wasilla at least 4x a week. I’m addicted to the steam room, which motivates me to get to the gym more often for a workout, because I only let myself use the steam room after a workout. The Alaska Club is worth the money you spend on a membership.

Update:
Club is still infuriating as ever.
I returned to sign up with someone since I had someone who could claim the same address as me now.
Waited for over a week wondering why our member card never came in.
Got a voicemail today.
Guess I had a balance from when I was with my ex that was well over 15 + years old. We had closed out back then, but somehow there is still a balance from then. They stated I needed to pay the balance to open an account.
Yeah- no thanks.
So. Again no club membership and I guess the silver lining is i save a good heap of cash every year not having to pay in for this place.
It may be a nice place to workout. But not for all their asking. And not for a debt that I didnt even know existed.
I am glad I didnt change my rating from last time.
Well. Staff are nice enough. Equipment is great. But the price is not worth it. I wanted to split costs with a friend and that wasn't an option. If I got the family plan
AK club needs to lower their prices and make it better to have memberships shared with friends. I can just go to planet fitness for 30 a month a bring a friend, as many friends as I want, whenever I want. They may not have the same space or amenities but for a substantial amount of money less and I can go with the friend I workout with it makes more sense. Also planet fitness doesn't make judements on what is considered a family
All in all glad I didn't sign up. Sad it isn't more affordable, or the club doesn't offer things to make up for the price their hailing. They would have gotten 2 memberships today between my friend and her family members and myself if the terms were not so strict.

The summer camp at Alaska Club was a huge success for our family. The staff was caring, professional, and helpful. We will definitely be using the camps available in the future. Thank you for this service. This was attended by our grandson who is 9 yrs old and our granddaughter who is 5 yrs old for reference. They both loved it!

10 STARS. Jules and Emily in the new membership department are professional and very friendly. They both went over and beyond my expectations when I signed up this month!! I talked to and texted Emily for 4 months before I moved to Fairbanks. A couple of her coworkers also texted me before I arrived. Emily always answered my texts before we met in person. She always made me feel welcome to tour The Alaska Club. When I arrived in Fairbanks, Emily had the day off. So Jules gave me the most friendly tour I’ve ever had when joining a new gym! We became friends in just one hour! 🤍 Jules explained all the club’s pricing and amenities and equipment professionally and without any pressure. Emily registered me a couple days later. She is amazing. We became friends in person instantly. She allowed me to join with a very thoughtful and empathetic enrollment fee and special terms to help me settle in (in Fairbanks) without stress. Thank you Emily!! 🤍 I have only used the pool so far and I love it! The lanes are great. The water temperature is great. The water is clean. The fellow swimmers are kind. The 5 year old kids are cute. The mens’ locker room is clean, comfortable, quiet, and classy as a Beverly Hills and West Hollywood Equinox gym locker room (where I exercised and lived for 9 years prior to moving to Fairbanks). I look forward to working out with the free weights, benches, nautilus machines, treadmills, stairmasters soon. I am writing this 5 star review 9/2/25.

The summer camp is amazing! They have these kids jumping at Fly, swimming, playing outside, coloring and different brain exercises throughout the day all while keeping the kids safe and happy. Their hours allow for parents to do pick up/ drop off without interfering with work. And the staff truly cares about the kids, it’s just wonderful. Most of all, my child is so excited to go every day! I can’t recommend it enough!

If you want to sign up for a membership at Alaska club, I would suggest you take the reviews seriously and I wish I did. I love the amenities but they kept charging me fees different prices every month and I just got tired of it and decided to cancel my membership. Then they charged me $555 for cancellation which nobody mentioned during the sign up process. If you get the membership, make sure you read the contract throughly because they have a lot of hidden fees that they don’t mention during the sign up process. The whole sign up process is very manipulative.

We were visiting Fairbanks from out of town and were interested in playing pickleball. The week prior to our trip I called The Alaska Club to find out more information. I spoke to the wonderful Olivia from the Membership team and she answered all of my questions. She went the extra mile to set up guest passes for our entire group of 8 and made an appointment for us to come in when we arrived. Upon our arrival, Olivia greeted us warmly and patiently explained how to register and get our passes. She offered to give us a tour of the facilities, but we opted for a self-guided tour, so she pointed us in the right direction. The Club's facilities are top notch, there are machines and weights for any and every kind of workout. There's a full size basketball court and you can even sign up for an exercise class using the guest pass. The pickleball play was fantastic, the local players welcomed us and were so friendly. Be sure to reach out to Olivia if you're interested in working out at the Alaska Club, even if you're in town for a visit!

If you are considering acquiring a membership at Alaska Club, I highly recommend taking a moment to read this review. The customer service provided was horrible. During an open house visit to the sauna with my sister, I entered without signing in because no one had flagged me down. While I was inside the sauna, in a state of undress, a staff member hastily rushed to the sauna, flung the door open, and proceeded to loudly call out my name to the entire sauna/Locker room . This incident was mortifying, as I found myself exposed and vulnerable. The worker insisted that I vacate the sauna, leaving the door ajar, continuously calling my name multiple times. Such behavior not only violated my privacy, but also breached HIPAA regulations. I felt deeply humiliated and traumatized by this lack of proper customer service and disregard for client confidentiality. Consequently, I approached the front desk to address the situation after I had dressed. To my dismay, I was met with the accusation of pouring essential oils, an act which I did not commit. I explained that I had been unaware that the open house had already taken place, and promptly apologized. In response, several coworkers proceeded to confront me, resulting in a rather hostile encounter. It is essential that everyone becomes aware of the severe lack of professionalism exhibited by the staff at Alaska Club, as well as their blatant violation of my personal privacy.

I signed up for a year contract and was told it would end after one year and there was nothing I needed to do. Well month 13 I was charged. So I called and they said, "oh contracts don't automatically end you need to submit a notice 30 days before the end of your contract." So if that is the case why are they telling people it's a year contract and why are they saying it'll cancel automatically? This gym is a scam. I was also told that 2 months of free spa benefits would cancel on its own after the 2 months unless I specifically requested to keep it. And once again they LIED. These people can't tell the truth to save their lives. Just a way to steal your money. Don't recommend this place at all.

I will start off positive, I really enjoyed the facility, it was clean, accessible and with friendly staff. However! Do not do Month to Month - you have to give 60 days notice! I was in Alaska visiting family for one month and I have to pay additional months because of the 60 days. The rep did not inform me in advance when I was looking at opinions. They knew I was only staying for one month and neglected to tell me. Sure, I didn’t read the contract in full which I failed to do my part. Nonetheless, 60 days is ridiculous!

Considering a hefty monthly payment for all the amenities with AK club its hard to compare without having zero competition. Coming from the lower 48 many gyms across America offer simular amenities with the fraction of the cost. However the staff is friendly, management is well organized and the overall experience is good by me. Considering the Alaskan cost of living, combined with the 24 hour access and the clubs hour's being expanded for those who may work late nights is an advantage to keeping the customer happy. Understanding that the Alaska club was on the verge of being no more, I am truly grateful it is still standing. Again, overall I have no complaints and I'm happy to be a member hopefully moving forward with the more members that we gain we can eventually lower the overall membership price. I truly believe if the price was more manageable for the lower income families or individuals it would lead to bigger profits in the long term.

Doing business in Fairbanks but if you want to make changes to your account they can only take your money but nobody available for service. Went in person to ask for assistance and handed a slip of paper; phone number to nobody answering or calling back on a normal business day with a note that they might not answer your email request for seven days. I was going to change my service but Angie in the business office didn’t want to acknowledge the lack of service and got snippy so I canceled my membership. If you want to do business in the community maybe should actually be in town. Also the locker room is getting gross.

We went there to check it out, get a quote, and become members... After an open to the public swimming party, we went into the shower room with my toddler. We were verbally assaulted and threatened by another member. Afterwhich, a staff member approached as we were still wet, naked in the locker room, and proceeded to stare and tell us the rules. (Apparently, there is another locker room). I kept telling the lady, "Now is not an appropriate time to talk to us. Please wait until we are done and discuss this at the front desk. " She ignored me and kept staring & telling us the rules while I was naked and my child as well.
This made me extremely uncomfortable, especially with a child. She kept persisting, [while we were naked] even after I told her we were visiting the place and did not know the rules. I had to cut her off and tell her to leave .
I said something, under my breath, along the lines of, "we were considering becoming members, if this is how staff treats people, we do not want this." She replied, "you shouldn't become one".
The staff needs better training and not talk to people while they are naked , especially when CHILDREN are involved!!!
We will take our membership to Mary Siah, where they actually help the community, have a pool, and a gym. The staff at Mary Siah would never violate a person's private parts or safe space.
I just read a review about the family locker rooms. They are in bad shape and not nearly as nice. That's a shame, because families should be their golden market for business. That just solidified my opinion of this place.

Easily one of my favorite places to be. The staff is always polite and friendly. I like the floor space upstairs and I’m always impressed with how they can keep on top of cleaning considering the constant traffic and the massive size of the building. If I feel like an area could be cleaner before I use it I don’t hesitate to flag down the cleaning person (I always see someone cleaning) to give the spot a quick sweep. The facility really is massive and even during “busy” times there is almost always an empty machine between people. New equipment always seems well thought out. The old equipment was high quality and the replacement is even nicer. The parking lot is easy to get in and out of even during rush hours. All of this being said, I do go as many as five days a week using the showers and steam room and sauna and dozens of different pieces of equipment and a ton of towels which makes the price seem insignificant to the service I’m getting.

Great for single people. Expensive, almodt 200 a month and not worth it for families, locker room hasn't been updated in idk 20 years? The kids room is a joke, every time we go all the electronics are broken, no games work, TV is usually off with no way to turn on. Daycare isn't trust worthy as ive picked up my kid without knowing the lady and she didn't check the ID.
The women's family lockerroom has one bathroom for a ton of people and kids, so you know kids are peeing in the shower and pool. The showers are gross and dirty each time, I found hair stuck inside the shower head yesterday.
In the other locker rooms there's plastic bags to put wet clothes in, dry bin to spin out the excess water, tons of lockers, and they've been updated. None of that is in the family locker rooms and if you're an adult there is no separate shower for you so your there with your kids and others and it's very awkward, I would go to the adult woman's one but they lock the door connecting them and lock the family locker room once the pool time ends so I was locked out after I used the separate women's shower.
Overall will never sign up again, they don't even have filted water down stairs just nasty looking 40 year old water fountains. 200 a month and not even the most basic things provided.

Shameless place (Fairbanks location only) with a shameless general manager Dustin that lies to your face! Been a customer for over 10 years and more than 15 thousand dollars later this place is a joke! They took the tire flip machine apart and when i asked what happened since a lot of us we’re using it James ( office manager ) said there is no space ! Machine was there for years , suddenly no space now in the largest location of all AK club network ! Tried talking to general manager Dustin and he said yeah we’ll try to place it in our heavyweight room but cant now ( maybe a week 2,3 basically told me to get lost)because were busy with the water slide ! Straight lied to my face because an elder gentleman took it apart in 20 minutes (i was present)while a whole different crew was setting up the slide by the pool! Pretty low as a man to lie let alone as a general manager! They do not care about customers ! Just pay and dont ask questions!

Update:: that free days they give you before you enroll they actually end up charging g you when you cancel your membership they make it sound cheap but later they hit you with fees and all that stuff.
I like this gym but idk how to feel about it overall. I got attacked by this man today and didn't really look like they cared. Man started acting like a victim and then started talking about my reaction to his disrespect. Which I wasn't speaking to him I was talking to my husband lol

The gym is incredible expensive and the Wi-Fi is terrible. Not enough to stream. I like to watch a show while I do cardio and I have to use my own data because the Wi-Fi isn’t strong enough to stream. I used to belong to Planet Fitness and membership there was super cheap and always had excellent Wi-Fi and no issues streaming my shows. If I knew this ahead of time, I’d never have gotten a membership here.

I’ve been a member here for two years now. I don’t have one bad complaint. My kids love the child care area, the pool is always a nice temperature, the downstairs and upstairs weight section is never crowded when I go. This gym is worth every penny, especially with all the amenities they offer in the cold months. Most importantly, I feel safe and my kids feel safe.

Ridiculous! business which increase their membership fee without any notice to their members but ask them a writing notice for cancelling any service plus a cancellation fee! I got charged for $148 this October but my agreement said it was $109, and there's a $34 initial fee occured for any reason? And a mysterious extra charge of $5? check your bills and defend your rights!

Cancelled my membership close to a year ago due to the ever-increasing (and already costly) monthly rates paired with premium benefits being made more scant over the years. The $25 guest fee is 2-5x that of comparable gyms in the area. Not to mention the monthly rate is too about 2-5x that of other gyms with comparable offerings and facilities (minus a pool, but that alone isn't convincing enough to make me pay up to a 5x premium).
This establishment has called me every week for three weeks in a row with various lukewarm offers. That's annoying enough to justify blocking the number. Of a business. Attempting to build their customer base and improve membership retention rates. If your customer retention has been sucking, look at your business practices. Not FORMER members' phone numbers, ESPECIALLY not to the tune of every week!

The Alaska Club is the best!! There’s everything One would ever need, and more in a Fittness gym. Great staffing, amazing Personal trainers, and excellent members of all ages. The Steam room, and Sunna is great after a hard workout of weight training or swimming laps in the pool, with plenty of fresh towels to relax with.Membership now allows members access to the facility 24hour a day, a family club!! The best Gym in Fairbanks. You got towels 24/7, jacuzzi, pool, steam room, sauna, gym, weight rooms and a lot of treadmills. Everyone wipes stuff down and people just mind their business. So this is a real judge free zone. I been going here for 2 years and don’t plan on going to any other gyms. I look forward to the gym everyday especially during the dark winters. Unless you want to be cheap and go to a gym where they don’t have half the stuff of Alaska Club. Not me though.

I am truly enjoying the club and the employees. Opening up after the regular hours were a special blessing to me.
One important piece of concern and advice is the upkeep of the racquetball courses. 1) they need to be varnish, 2) you need to fix the dead places on the floor. I believe it is well used and needs attention. One way to provide a greater interest in playing racquetball is having regular clinics separated by youth, adults and for women,

I swim laps three times a week. The water is warm and the pool is clean. I also relax in the hot tub after a swim and they keep the hot tub clean. The staff are friendly. I also take my kids on Sundays for the open swim and that is a lot of fun. Great place for individuals and families.

My use of the The Alaska Club Fairbanks South is primarily the pool, the weight room, the treadmills, and an occasional group fitness class. If you are a serious swimmer, their pool may be too warm for you; and, if you are a serious, serious swimmer don't expect people to understand pool etiquette as you know it. The pool is used by people of all ages who are more sensitive to the pool temperature than lap swimmers, so if you like a cooler pool then UAF might be better suited to you.
I'm happy to see that the club has updated their treadmills on the Southside. Hopefully, they will begin to update their treadmills in the West end too. I train for races where we aren't allowed technology, so I don't use the fancy screen features. However, I think it's totally cool for those who won't get on a treadmill because it's boring.
The vibe in the group classes is strong and energetic. My schedule doesn't allow me to go to them often. Instead I use The Alaska Club's TAConnect on demand service that comes with premium membership. This is an excellent way to get a workout in when the weather is too treacherous to travel.

I left my membership number at home one day, I asked the manager that was working behind the desk if she could look up my last name. I tell her my name and she proceeds to say, “I bet you got teased in school.” I don’t understand her thought process behind it and how rude she was. Also, getting out of your contract is like the military. You don’t. Please think twice before joining this gym. I promise you will regret it.

The business model for this company is terrible. The salesmen are more manipulative than the used car people. Their wordplay makes their sales gimmick deceptive. The facilities are nice, but highly overpriced. Their contracts are designed to coerce as much money from the customer as possible. It is obvious they are the only option for this type of facility around, and they take advantage of the fact. It is similar to a utility company in Fairbanks and Anchorage. I would strongly recommend going elsewhere if there was another option.

We joined and they were incredibly cordial; however, as soon as we started to see discrepancies and asked them about it, they were no longer cordial or kind. We were being charged twice for swim lessons, and when we inquired about that they gave us the runaround. Thank goodness I saved the receipts but even with proof they didn’t credit our account. I had to call my bank. We got a trainer. When we signed the second contract, we were told to disregard the section that stated that we couldn’t cancel until after a period of, I believe 6 months. I asked the lady signing us up if I could cross it out since she stated to disregard that. She said yes. When we tried to cancel, the Alaska Club refused to cancel. They said it didn’t matter if I crossed that section out or if anyone told me I could. We had to pay for the entire half a year even though the agreement was that if we moved out of state, we could cancel. They refused to cancel even with proof. I would never go back or recommend The Alaska Club to anyone.

Overly costly for a reduced version of the Alaska Club. After spending time at the Wasilla and Anchorage Alaska Clubs, it’s wildly apparent that they are offering a subpar experience for members in Fairbanks while charging the same amount. This problem was only furthered, upon the removal of conditioner from all showers to cut costs. We so simply pay too much per month total have existing services removed.

They shut the doors on us because of covid19 It's where my family went to shower we were in a dry cabin then. One day the doors were closed on us which I considered a breach of contract. After 2 months they opened at limited use and pinged my account without notice for approximately 150.00$ which was full price for limited use I tried to explain my situation because of covid they were like talking to robots nothing there they just wanted the last 2 months of the contract over 300 dollars because of covid I'm struggling to feed my 2 children and stay clean covid has caused us massive financial damage and now they sent me to collections! Really?! These people are cold ruthless with no understanding of how they along with covid 19 have hurt people.
I'm in collections now thanks for hurting me and my family for the next seven years way to keep it going.

Awesome and a great variety of equipment from treadmills, ellipticals, stair master, and much more cardio equipment. Also they have a heavy weight room for power lifters and cable machines. Pool, basketball court and track above. There are free weights located all over the club and staff and trainers as well. Easy to get lost in the abundance of equipment and activities there thats for sure. Since this whole covid thing the club has taken all the precautions and what not to make sure the spread of rona is stopped and safe for us gym goers. Hah so give it a try and get hooked on the active lifestyle.

Great facilities, but the higher up an employee is, the less friendly they are. Not to mention the club charges you for every little thing. They are more money focused, not client focused. Even employees have to pay for child care. The day rate is $15, even if you're just there for one class. They used to charge $5 for the class I liked to drop in for, then they increased it to their daily club use rate of $15. I've just never felt that this was a friendly place in the 20 years I have been here. They're definitely not there for you, they are there for them.
