I have been working with Alex for close to a year now. He has been providing hands on training and advice the whole time and is always available to answer any questions I had over the course of that year. When I left the state for work he was able to provide me a replacement routine using the available gym in my hotel so that I could continue exercising. I would recommend him to anyone who asks.

“I can’t say enough good about Alex and his gym. I was sent to him by my physical therapist. At age 70 I never considered weight training and was nervous when I showed up. Alex has a way of taking age and ability and neutralizing them. He, instead, takes his knowledge of exercise science and the physical body and creates a tailored program based on, for me, aches and pains and arthritic joints. His sense of humor and no nonsense personality kept me successful. And he listens.
The best thing however was the look on my doctor’s face when she told me my osteoporosis numbers had improved significantly! This after 9 months at the gym.

I played competively and taught Tennis and Pickleball and am dealing with chronic aging and repetitive impact injuries. I am not a fitness fan but have been working with Alex, Apex Performance, on strengthening and conditioning while working around a tibial stress fracture and rotator cuff surgery. Alex explains the kinesiology of muscle performance and understands how to safely workaround the numerous muscle injuries. Alex has been great to work with. I have been beset with multiple health issues which necessitated 7 surgeries over the past year. Alex is a tough and disciplined trainer. But his insights on body dynamics are excellent. His customized, app-based training regimens helped me build strength and maintain muscle-mass as part of a medical program. In fall of 2023 I started having limited mobility in my left leg which prevented me from doing so many actives that I loved. Some days I could barely lift my leg, walked with a gait, and I was in constant discomfort. After several sessions with PT & doctor visits I was told I had a severely torn labrum with hip dysplasia and the only fix was a full hip replacement. Completely discourage, a friend recommended Alex @ Apex Performance. Alex took the time to learn about my injury, my goals and my wish to postpone surgery as long as possible. For 1 year I worked with Alex on a full body workout routine while focusing on strengthening the muscles around my hips. In the beginning I remember breaking down, completely frustrated, because I could not step up onto a short box. Alex encouraged me and kept my focus moving forward. After 8 months of training, I was back out hiking 4,000 footers and cycling. This winter I was able to enjoy full days skiing bumps, woods and steeps again. I am incredibly grateful for Alex's coaching and continued support. I would strongly recommend a consult with Alex!!

I started working with Alex in July 2024. At 53 I found myself myself 25 pounds overweight and lacked strength and energy. After a knee injury skiing and a bout with sciatica I knew I needed to do something but feared further injury. My physical therapist, also a client at Apex Performance, recommended I have an assessment with Alex. Encouraging from the get-go, Alex worked with me to learn more about nutrition and set realistic goals for weight loss. He created an individualized strength program specific to my needs. Every step of the way Alex took the time to explain in detail the science and the “why” of how he develops his programs the way he does. Less than a year later I am 25 pounds lighter and so much stronger. I am eating to fuel my body properly, have increased energy and my body moves so much better. I feel safe, strong and confident in the gym and have met many great people along the way. I had back surgery in 2015 and have had a litany of related issues since. Finding good quality care has been a real challenge. I’m grateful to have found Alex and Apex Fitness as it has become a core piece of puzzle for good health and leading the life I want.
When I started with Apex a year ago I was quickly impressed a few things. 1) The knowledge Alex had in his craft and his ability to use it in practical ways during the workouts 2) The patience Alex exhibited and his ability to adjust and adapt for each person in the gym (this is something that sadly does not happen with a lot of trainers and health providers). 3) The sense of community and camaraderie in the gym.
If your looking to improve your body, health, and open up opportunities to enjoy activities in life again (I’m skiing again for the first time in years) I can’t recommend Apex fitness enough.

A few months ago, my Physical Therapist, Allison Curran, strongly suggested that I engage Alex Pirleci of Apex Performance for help with my lower back issues. Allison had been working with Alex for months and was extremely grateful for his outstanding coaching and assistance. A few months of working with Alex and I can golf pretty much pain free again.
In addition to creating a personal fitness/weight training program for me, he also has studied and amended my dietary needs. Remarkable results in every way.
He is extremely articulate in suggesting nutritional changes which work. And, perhaps best of all, Alex is always attentive, and directive when needed, in assessing fitness workouts which he personally develops for me.
Finally, while I will be heading south in a month, Alex is putting together a regular routine for me to follow on a fitness app that I will fill out while away , and he will monitor and assess for me. This is a special person in every way.

I’ve been training with Alex for over a year now, and I’ve seen real progress in strength and overall fitness thanks to his personalized approach. Alex structures our training blocks to keep things fresh, changing up every six weeks or so, and always makes sure to incorporate any specific goals I want to work on. I’ve enjoyed the training so much that my wife has now joined me and we both look forward to our sessions. Highly recommend Alex to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, adaptable, and encouraging trainer!
p.s. I can now confidently do more than 20 pushups in a row, not be afraid of laying down to bench press, and routinely leave my workouts with a sense of accomplishment and excitement to come back for my next session (but truly appreciate my rest days!)

I have been a Manual Physical Therapist for over 30 years in this community, and I have worked along side trainers with my clients, and personally for my own health. I can honestly say that I have never met and worked with someone so knowledgable and dedicated to his craft as Alex.
Personally, he has helped me transform my body into something I didn't think possible at 52 years of age! Apex not only transformed my fitness journey but revolutionized the way I understand and approach exercise. I am a "tactical athlete" and I have been aggressively training for well over a decade. I have tried every modern fitness trend: CrossFit, participated in marathons, followed YouTube influencers, and spent an entire year creating sweat puddles in my basement with kettlebells. In doing so, I created a wide array of biomechanic deficiencies and wasted thousands of hours training ineffectively. After a quad tendon tear in 2022, I gained 20 pounds. My body did not react kindly to this change: out of breath, sleep was negatively effected, my mood was up and down. I tried to lose the weight myself, but to no avail.
I knew that Alex had trained other people at my Brazilian Jiu Jitsu gym, so I asked him for help. He immediately made time for me and honestly shared what his plan was: start to focus on eating with regards to calories in and calories out (CICO). He also paired the CICO with a basic, adapted workout schedule tailored to my needs as a 60 year old athlete with OA in my hip.
6 moths later I am down 20 pounds and feel the best I have felt in years. I wouldn't have been able to do it without Alex and a new path to wellness. My old ways of starving myself, binging and working out with no attention to function was not working with regards to health and performance.
I needed someone to guide me gently through a life change.
If I can lose 20 pounds with Alex, you can too.
I will be able to take what Alex has given me in the last 6 months and use it moving forward. This is performance longevity.

I have worked with Alex for 3 years now and very pleased with his approach. Its a great combination of software, applications, work out programs, and nutritional goal settings. I always thought I knew how to work out but there was so much to learn to prevent injury and help me meet my goals for my health and fitness. I found Alex after suffering from persistent pain related to a hamstring injury. I was in and out of physical therapy for well over a year with no relief or resolution of my pain. Within a month my pain was gone and now 2 years later I remain pain free. His attention to detail when teaching proper body mechanics and strength training is second to none. I also worked with Alex on a nutritional plan to help me combat some weight gain and redistribution related to turning 50. I am an hobbyist BJJ Brown Belt athlete and have been working with Alex @ APEX Performance for the past couple of months, coming fresh off a lumbar microdiscectomy at the L5-S1 level that kept me paralyzed in bed for one month and off from sports for the better part of 2 years.
Objectives were high, despite the condition of my back. my goals were to get back fully to strength training as well as being able to hit the mats again and be able to spar with intensity. all while improving my body composition to achieve a leaner and more athletic physique.
Due to Alex's huge knowledge on exercise, movement, nutrition, programming, injury recovery and general evidence-based approach, I have been making constant and relentless progress towards all of my goals.
I can now say I have lost 6 kg s of body fat, consistently and without hunger/performance loss or dropping food categories, fixed my blood pressure issues, I am hitting strength training again, being able to load movements such as the front squat and the deadlift with weight and hitting the mats again at Jiu Jitsu all without pain, activities that most therapists would have thought I wouldn't be able to do again.
I am very enthusiastic about working with Alex @ APEX Performance moving forward and aiming to increase my strength and conditioning to levels better than pre-injury and reach my all time best.

I have worked with Alex over the past couple of years. I have struggled with back problems for many years due to spinal stenosis. My previous experiences at the gym since my college days were inconsistent as I typically would get started and would hurt myself. This caused me not to go back.
When Alex and I talked about goals I indicated that i wanted to improve my fitness, my golf game, my squash game and didn’t want to get hurt.
Alex is knowledgeable about how the body works. My body has been a challenge, when I have hurt myself outside of the gym he knew what I needed to do to get things working again.
It used to be I that I didn’t go to the gym because something was hurting. When that happens now Alex comes up with something that helps.
With Alex’s help I am staying functional, getting stronger, more fit as well.

Alex is super professional with good sense of humor.
I am a runner and have been training with him almost three years. During this last three years, I shaved my full marathon time by over 30 minutes and got me qualified to Boston Marathon even after my serious injury.
